I don't know if this has been suggested, but here's my 2 cents.

Now, seeing how the majority of new cell phones are bluetooth enabled makes me wonder about their potential in interacting with other devices. I'm just going to throw this out there. Shortly after the release of that Motorola phone with the iTunes software, I can see a bluetooth adapter being released for the iPod.

What would be the benefit of this? Using the cell phone to control the iPod. With bluetooth, the iPod's library could be read and displayed (not transferred or anything obviously) on iTunes on the cell phone. Similar to how you can view your iPod's library on iTunes, but it's not really on your computer. Then you could select the songs on the cell phone and they'll play on the iPod. Useful as a flashy remote control if you use your iPod as a home stereo system.

Also, since you're connected via bluetooth, you could probably transfer a limited number of songs from the iPod to the cell phone to use as ringtones and such.

Now, theoretically this stuff is probably possible, BUT seeing as how bluetooth is mainly used in conjunction with Windows, it could be difficult getting it for Apple firmware. Just an idea though...

That would be sweet to enable Ipods to be bluetooth enabled. It would be really convenient since my cell phone is always out that I could just control everything through my cell phone. They could probably make it where you can have one pair of headphones connected to your cell phone or Ipod and be able to listen to music and also talk on the phone. I know that they make cars that are Bluetooth enabled where you can listen to music and then you can talk on your cell phone through the car speakers.
I would also think that you could have your Ipod playing through your laptop or your Bluetooth enabled car.
I know there are some headphones on the market that are bluetooth enabled. Has anyone ever tried these out? Does anyone know of any upcoming products that will make the Ipod more accessible for Bluetooth products?

hey there...I've been on a number of forums where people have complained about the cellular (!) audio quality when using a BT phone and headset.

And now for the techspeak :) BT, as a PAN (personal area network) is great for peripherals like mice, printers, PDAs (data transfer/sync only) and Cell phones (headset profile, PIM sync). You are also limited to a data transfer rate of about 750kBps, which could approach its network capacity with several audio streams. WiFi would give a great deal more network overhead and range.

And here I am listening to my Mini through the static on my iCarplay wireless and car radio  !

I heard that Bluetooth sig is about to come out with an enhanced data rate version that will allow for better streaming audio quality. This is good news for all of us who hate running with all these wires or doing everyday tasks with our hands and need that free space to move around. If Ipods do ever become bluetooth enabled, these will be huge.
