this is really confusing

ok
if you burn all your cd's in apple lossless format
which is supposed to be half the size of the original
then you compressed it to say 160 aac
would this aac file be half the size of the same aac file ripped from the original cd?...
and if it would be half the size,would you hear any difference?

point being ,maybe you could get 20,000 songs instead of 10,000 on 40 gb and not hear the difference?

that would be awesome

anybody know?
