iTunes won't recognize iPod

I was recently on vacation for two weeks without syncing my ipod (i just charged it through the power adapter). I came home today and just tried to update my iPod with some new cd's I purchased. However, when I plugged my iPod into my PC, it will only charge--iTunes won't recognize it and I can't update.

why dont u try downloading the newest ipod software. or maybe u need a new fireware dock. like the dock thats in the back or front of ur computer. maybe that needs to be replaced. but other than that i dont know.

I reset it and put it into disk mode, but it still won't sync.

Try reinstalling iTunes or a 'Repair' might do the trick.
