iSkin eVo2 for the 4G? Check!

It came today! yay! Just in time for the holiday weekend trip.

I don't have an older iSkin or any other case to compare it to but I'm liking this. My iPod is a bit fatter now, but it's phatter too. The belt clip is super cheesy; it's something you'd find in those gumball machines. I removed it immediately. And if you ordered a "ghost" color because you wanted a white case and thought for $30, it's gonna have to do something else, like...glow, I think it's pretty groovy.

Wow I am so jealous. I also plan on ordering the Ghost Ipod case that glows blue at night. Just tell me, is the case see though from the back? Because I have a laser engraving and I am wondering if you can read it through the Ghost Iskin. And for 30 bucks, the blue glow better be cool.

No, the back is not see-through...that would be pretty cool though if it was. I think the "arctic" is somewhat transparent.

That was the first thing I did, cup my hands around it. I'm easily amused by things like glow-in-the-dark though...I'm such a dork :)

It glows pretty bright and it seems to be very sensitive to light. I'll have to check it out tonight to see how it "performs."

You brought up a good point about having a transparent back. Many have custom engravings that I'm sure they'd like to sport even with a case/skin on. Perhaps companies will take this into consideration for future designs.

Post some pics, if you could, please. I am trying to choose between the iSkin eVo2 ghost and the lajo eXo-fb 4g. Lajo is always cheaper but I have used both brands of silicon cases with 3G and the iskin taught lajo a lesson in quality, fit, and user satisfaction. Plus, iskin's screen protector fits like magic, protectos better and never slips.

I'll attempt to use it to store the extra crap - iTrip, iPod remote, extra cable for headphones, AC charger, USB cord etc...

We'll see how it goes. But yeah - it looks like a cheap "incentive" to get people to pre-order.

It's all about the skin though.

I got my Blush case for the 4G 40 gb Ipod on Friday, but the Ghost case that came with it was for the 3G version. I'm contacting customer service and am curious, given some of the comments I've read here, to see how they do at fixing the problem.

The Ghost color is pretty nifty--glows a sort of aqua blue, and in sunlight is about the color of skim milk.

The Blush (currently on my ipod) is even brighter than I expected--serious bubble-gum pink. I like it.

The good:
-the pink color looks great with the white cord of the headphones and with the gray clickwheel
-the screen protector is really well designed and very clear
-It's snugger than I expected, really doesn't slip around the body of the ipod once on; the added bulk is minimal
-for me, the inputs on bottom and top are very accessible--can easily use Itrip and the power cable, though can't use the dock

The bad:
-the openings around the screen and clickwheel gap out of shape unless you occasionally tug the sides inward
-the dock flap somehow got a tiny tear in it after less than 12 hours of really quite gentle use
-the belt clip really does suck--it doesn't grip tight or hold the ipod flat against your hip, so the ipod slides up to dangle precariously from the very edge of the clip if you bend over or clip it to a belt loop. It's also got a misleading ridged area that looks like it should lever the clip open if pressed; it doesn't. It's a shame, because the clicking rotary mechanism would be neat for positioning the ipod at any angle you liked (if the clip only, you know, clipped tight). I also liked the removability of not just the clip, but the clip-anchoring disk. It's a fixable problem, if they just design a better clip to fit into the excellent disk system.

I'm mostly pretty happy with it. I'll post back about how long it takes iSkin to address the shipping error on the Ghost case.

I had an original iSkin for my 3G iPod; the belt clip broke. I was going to purchase a new iSkin for my 4G iPod after seeing that they have improved upon the first design. After hearing the initial reviews of it, I've decided to not purchase an iSkin and instead snatch up an Apple carrying case on eBay for $10.

I need the belt clip desperately for working out; putting the iPod in my pocket doesn't work very well.

It's a tight fit but the grippiness of the iSkin holds well against the sides of the TuneDok. No TuneDok malfunction.

I agree. I ordered mine on the 24th as well and it has yet to ship to my knowledge. This company needs to work on their customer service skills. I doubt I will be doing business with them in the future.

The very least they could do was reply to the email to their customer service address sent nearly two weeks ago.

Also, they should have been more honest about the shipping date of their product. I feel as though they gave the date they did to retain customers and to keep them from seeking an equivalent product elsewhere. Giving the 3rd week in August then August 31st as shipping dates and then missing both is irresponsible.

I tried to cancel my order using their customer service message system. Sent the cancellation request last Wednesday (when the order was still showing as "Processing") and didn't hear a thing back.

Between then & now the tracking page showed "Pre-Order" and today it shows "Delayed". I re-sent the cancellation order both via their online site and by direct email. I got an acknowledgment saying my enquiry will be dealt with in the next two days.

I've really no idea what's going on!

Did you get this resolved?? I'm in a very similar situation (ordered 2 different 4G cases and was sent 1 4G and 1 3G). Their resolution was to offer to ship me a mailer to return the 3G but I would have to pay $7.50 for the shipping on the replacement. So far I'm not impressed with the customer service -- charging me $7.50 to fix their error? We'll see how this works out..

I'm a bit ####ed off. Despite the fact that I've been trying to cancel my order for over a week with no reply, I've just discovered that the money was taken from my account at the time of order (within minutes).

Now this may be standard practice with some companies, but why the hell should they sit on my money for weeks for pre-orders. It's hardly an incentive for them to dispatch. Or, in my case, if the order is cancelled, they can sit on it for longer still while their crappy customer services dept. take ages to sort out the refund.

I really hate companies who do this. I don't have the goods - why should I have paid? Apple is a good example of a company who only withdraw the money when the goods are dispatched. That's how it should be.

I ordered the grey one on the 28th and it still has not shipped. I was charged immediately and have not recieved an email apologizing for the delay. I did get a response email the day after I sent an inquiry but it was a pretty useless form letter. I have been very dissatisfied with this company and from reading here, I don't think I am the only one. Does anyone know of a phone number through which we could contact them. It doesn't appear that they are really reading the emails. I will never do business with them again and I would suggest anyone considering ordering one not to either, if you value a company that has an ounce of integrity.

Agree with some posters comments - the clip is very cheezy. Another major complaint - the iPod will not dock with the iSkin on - too fat. This is major disappointment to me since I purchased the iPod Stereo Connection kit... The ghost "glow" is pretty cool however.

Well...FINALLY! I got my Ghost iSkin yesterday. Even though the customer service of Iskin sucks, I do like the Ghost. It looks pretty cool in my Hond Element at night with it's eerie glow. Fits well, and the clip is nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. Wore it at the gym last night with no troubles.
I may even get another skin down the road...

Got mine today, ordered a ghost and these things are so awesome. The clip feels a little flimsy but if i don't like it I can just take it off. The screen protector fits and looks perfect, and I took it out to my car for just a minute and when i came back inside the darn thing was glowing already : ) And the light bluish color is freakin awesome. Yeah it is a little fatter now, but it feels really protected so for a couple cm wider, i'm not complaining

The eVo2's have just arrived in on New Zealand shores and I'm interested in the ghost one, but not if the white is too off-white or creamy. So I'd really appreciate some real-life pics of the shade of the silicone, in particular in comparison to the white of say the select button.

update: after a couple of emails explaining that though I'd ordered eVo2s in blush and ghost, I'd gotten a blush evo2 and a regular evo in ghost, I got an email today from the company saying my eVo2 in ghost would be sent to me free of charge. Rock!

Jansen, judging from the regular eVo in ghost, you might find the non-glo color too off-white if you're looking for Ipod white. It looks like skim milk--slightly yellowish and bluish undertones. But very cool glow.

I like it, though I was hoping (expecting) to be able to use the dock with the skin on, but that's not that big a deal, really - I'm pretty satisfied so far.

I got one but I already had an accessory pouch for my iPod gear. What the free case is good for though is a dust proof case for your iPod when you pack it away for a trip/hike/storage. The iSkin protects your iPod but dust can still get in throught the click wheel. The free case will act as an additional layer of protection.

until someone finds a better use with the iskin, my dock sits sadly in the pod's box.. would be a pain to remove the skin every time (yes i know of the solution of removing the bottom part).. the ipod now lays there lifeless instead of staring at me while on the computer..

You're right JiMbOb04. I gave them a direct call all the way from my place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The guy who answered the phone said some would have received and some not yet depending on:

1) The date of the order
2) The stock shipment from iSkin. :-(

It seemed that while they are serving the order on 1st come 1st serve basis, some people got theirs and some not especially those who preferred the popular colors...

So, if you're ordering an unpopular color, chances are you probably getting it by now.

I ordered a wasabi but request for a change to ebony after seeing how it compliments the Sony EX71 black earphone in one of the pictures posted in this title.

Either color, I don't think I'll b getting mine soon and as the guy who answered said there's nothing they could do about it.

Anway, for your peace of mind, I ordered it on Aug 25th....

Goes to show:

1. We got taste... popular colors, we made the right choice...so for those who got it long long time ago....ummm... I wonder....

2. The waiting game is fun.... Been waiting for lots of things all our lifes.... the exam results... the driving license.... the iPod... and now the iskin.... couldn't care less....

The only thing I'm really worried is my iPod exposed to various external danger... the only thing protecting it now is a AGVA neoprene case I got for my T3 last time... :D ;)

just curious if anyone leaves the belt clip disc in the iskin (not the belt clip though).. because without the disc, it gives an awkward suction-cup-empty-like effect on the back where the disc would normally be.. yet with the disc IN, you have to deal with the annoying plastic protruding through the two holes...

I pre ordered on aug 22 for a wasabi then after waiting for 2 weeks no word from the istore then i emailed them they replied telling me that wasabi is not available for another week & they suggested another color & i decided to order another color i ordered the ghost it arrived after 3 days.All in all waiting time took 22 days;) Expect that, these cases are like hotcakes just like the ipods.

Mine arrived today, and I noticed that the documentation/user manual was inside the case. I was looking at it for a while, trying to figure out how the hell you'd get it out of the case.

I didn't realize the case was so stretchy. Pretty cool indeed.

So I guess it CAN dock! I won't be investing in a dock myself, but it's at least good to know it can do that if a dock falls in my lap.

Idon't think it's bad. I have had mine for about a week now, and been to the gym 4 times with it. No troubles...yet.

Had my iskin for 4G 20GB iPod for about 2 weeks now and its ok. Nothing fancy here, kind of like a condom for the iPod. I was a little disapointed though, I guess I was expecting a little something cooler. I am leaning towards getting a Vaja case b/c I think in the long haul, it will be my best bet. I got the orange color. The clear screen cover does work well I must say.

I'm just pointing out to you that there are many others in your situation, that feel hard done byor forgotten, and that you shouldn't feel unfairly treated. iSkin didn't set out specifically to #### you off, they are ####ing everybody off to the same extent with the massive demand for their orders. My local apple retailer has informed me that they will be receiving their first shipments in 3 days, and I've had them put one aside for me. Physically getting yourself down to a retail store is not hard, saves you tracking and status hassles and ensures instant gratification :D.

As far as I know, there's no "mod" for the iSkin eVo to fit in the dock with the iPod, other than to expose the bottom by peeling back the bottom part of the iSkin. Don't worry - it will go back to it's original form.

I just got my ghost iSkin the other day for my birthday. I kinda wish I got the sonic though. Not only does iskin.com tease me with the sonic, but the instruction manual displays the sonic one too. I love the skin, good design, awesome screen protector, and perfect fit, but I'm ####ed about a few things.

The ghost isn't that great looking IMO. It's milky color clashes with the iPod's white and lint and stuff is very noticeable. The glow-in-the-dark blue feature is really awesome though.

Also, I kinda wish I would have been patient and waited because now the Lajo cases are out. I really wish the iSkin could have had a click wheel cover like the Lajo, but it doesn't. Oh well, I'm thinking of ordering a Lajo exo3x Electra to make up for my desire to have a sonic iPod, and to take care of the click-wheel problem. Plus, the Electra glows in the dark :D .

Does anyone own an Electra Lajo case or a Sonic iSkin case? I love the sonic color, but I love the Lajo's features, so I'm hoping electra is similar to sonic.

We have been shipping as fast as they come in. I would expect yours to ship in a few days.'

it's just a clear plastic case. pretty lame/pointless IMO. there's a picture of one on like page 9 of this thread. i don't think anyone would actually pay for one of those things

I ordered Wasabi Friday afternoon. I was a bit disappointed when I opened the package this morning, as it was more of a pale yellow than a lime green. After being out of the package for a couple hours though it looks great!!

The fit on mine is perfect, flush around the screen and the clickwheel, it's a lot better than I thought it would be.

As far as adding bulk, it is very thing. To me it's not to make a difference in the size of the ipod.

The only thing I can think of that might be a problem is if you're constantly taking it out of your pocket. The silicone would cling a bit to your pocket, it's definetly not the smooth surface of the ipod. When you're sitting though its a bonus, because it wouldn't easily slip out of your pocket (as my cell phone often does when i'm sitting in class) My iskin is brand new though, it may wear down a bit with use, or if you put a little baby powder on it that may help.

Well, I got my iSkin this morning. I was VERY impressed with everything that came with it, even the nifty instruction manual!

However I was disappointed to see that my order only had 1 iSkin when I ordered 2 and the shipping invoice showed 2 were shipped.

So I called their customer service, they were VERY polite and apologized for the problem. They said they would ship another one today via Overnight Express at no charge. Thats a way to make a customer happy!

well after 34 days, i finally received my carbon 4g 40gb ipod case! geez that took way too long. i had two exo cases for my 3g ipod, so i have something to compare this case too. i don't like the evo's 'V' or whatever you want to call it that starts at the bottom of the front and goes halfway up the case. i liked the exo that was just a flat surface. the port protector's a nice addition, but if my fingernails are trimmed, it's going to be a bish to get it out. the new screen protector seems harder than the old ones, but it moves around a lot more. the hole for the click wheel is just a little bit too small (like 1-2MM). i really like the fact that they slimmed up the top portion so you can use the itrip and stuff. that's real handy. what's up with the new clip though? i like how 'sturdy' it is compared to the old clip, but the actual clipping portion is garbage. the old one was a lot better.
either way, i know it seems like i'm complaining a lot about the iskin, but they really are the best cases on the market (IMO) and i'm glad mine finally came in!

The clip is crap, IMO. I bought it for the awesome screen protector and case itself. They should really bring back the metal clip, like in the old iSkins.

I've had my ghost for a little over a week now. I love my iSkin!

I took out the clip and circle from the beginning since it would look/feel too clunky. And the clear case/pouch is somewhere...makes my iPod look like its being suffocated. :(

The glow = the most impressive part of the iSkin. Even with minimal light, the iskin glows for hours. Of course, the brighter the light, the brighter the glow. I was quite popular when my class turned of the lights to show a video. :D

I can't decide between Arctic or Ghost! The glow part is cool but the transparency looks smooth! From the Ghost takes the sleekiness of the iPod away a bit IMHO.

Thanks to this thread I changed my order from a carbon to an ebony on the day the carbon was supposed to ship. Thanks for the pics of your cases and the contact info for iSkin!

Tough decision between the Artic and Ebony though. Deciding factor was that I could get the Sony Fontopia earphones for ~15 cheaper and I think the Ebony would look sweet with a colored screen cover. :cool:

I recently got a iSkin...I love it. The couple of days that I didn't have it, my poor iPod got a couple scratches. :-( iSkin.com screwed up and sent me two of them anyways(Arctic 20gb). I plan on selling it on eBay when I get my digital camera for xmas.

Hey about the dock? I have a 4G 20GB and i was wandering, you know how the dock comes with two face covers 1 for 20GB and 1 for 40GB, could i fit the ipod in the dock with the 40GB dock cover on? A reply would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.

darkninjaJU, you can't fit a 4G 20 gig into the 40 gig dock cover because the iSkin makes it wider as well as thicker, whereas the 40 gig is merely thicker than the 20, but just as wide. believe me, i already tried it.

well, I bought new 4G 20Gb iPod day ago and iSkin evo2 arctic case... such a nice "classical combo" ;)
but, I am an hyper-idiot :( I used knife to unpack iSkin and I cut it a little bit :(
So, my question is: will this tiny cut cause further damage or nothing worse will happen?

Hrmmm, if you never stress that area, it'll probably not rip further.

I'm just thinking out loud here, but if one were to apply enough crazy glue to that gouge, would that prevent it from further tearing? (Would end up with a hard spot, but might be a good tradeoff to save the skin)

I'd conduct another experiment, but I don't have cases to spare ;)

thx Tholek :) I'm a bit afaid of using crazy glue as it may easily burn a hole in silicone rubber :| I was thinking about some glue used for bicycle innertire patches... cause it will not make a hard spot

Yeah, I think you maybe be thinking of acetone, but to be honest, I have no idea on how silicone would react to cyanoacrylate (crazy glue).

I have seen it touted as usuable on rubber, but not sure about silicone specifically.

Sounds like you want some kind of epoxy, but I don't know if that'll bond to the silicone.

Whatever you try, let us know how it goes.

Hi all,

Firstly i sell iSkins in the UK and get them from my supplier with a 12 month warranty so for the person who cut theres might try and get a replacemnt from whoever they brought it from or possibly iSkin direct.

In case anyones interested i got the date of the week beginning 21st for my first shipment of iSkin WILDS so thats a bit more specific than just Feburary that iSkin is telling the public. I'm also in the UK so you might even get a bit sooner in the US.
