Hello,

I'm a newbie with a 3 day old 4g Ipod. I am also a serial ipLounge 'lurker' ;o).

I am loooking to buy a case for my Ipod and came across the Vaja Europe site. I am particularly interested in the combo case (where u can choose colours and clip type).

The only problem is, these are distributed from America(s) and I live in the UK; I dont want to get hit by customs.

I have contacted Vaja to see if they are willing to under value the goods, but have had no response yet.

I was wondering if anyone here knows where I can buy this case in the UK.

I noticed that cases from vaja were reviewed in the newbies/power users/cases section of this site, so hopefully there is another supplier.

I could be mistaken, but I thought all of the Vaja cases were manufactured and shipped from Argentina?

Yep, that is true. They are manufactured in Argentina and good luck with trying to get them to change anything on the package.

Hi,

Thanks for the welcome.

MS_Jewelle is correct about Argentina - Hence America(s).

They do ship to Europe, its just the after paying so much money (albeit for a quality case), I really dont want to pay another
??30+ on customs and handling.

It really sucks :o(

Anybody here from the UK have one of these cases, I'd love to know how you went about getting it?

Clicking the link for buying a customised case brings you to Vaja's website :)

I doubt it's gonna be 30 quid for shipping...I'm from Serbia and I payed $25...

I paid $21 aproxamately ??10. Who sent yours, Fed Ex? How long did it take your case to arrive? And is there anyway of knowing what is happening to your case e.g. where it is in the process. Thanks..... Sam

Hi Sam.

Got confirmation from Vaja that shipping would be $21 for up to 2 cases & they would NOT under value goods. I think that living in the UK, we are definitely gonna get stung by customs.

Please can you post back and let us know if you get charged by customs, and if you dont mind, how much?

I am still waiting on this case. (it feels like ages since i have ordered it even though it has only been like 14 days). Poi when did you order yours?

Hi Sam.

I havent ordered my case, only found out about this product recently.

I am currently making do with my Lilipod, which I love, but seriously limits the use to setting everything up before hand and locking it.

I only ask because this case looks absolute quality which I dont mind paying (RRP) for. I also buy loads of stuff from US/Japan, which usually the seller under values the goods so they pass through customs without additional duty.

On the occasions where the seller has not under valued the items, I usually get charged a fairly hefty sum. And if that's not bad enough, the courier (Parcel Force, Fed Ex, TNT etc ) add an extra charge for accepting the items into the UK and shipping it to you. You kinda wonder, " I already paid Vaja for shipping, so whats this handling charge all about?"

As I mentioned, I am more than willing to pay ??60 - $100 for a quality case, but with this extra tax and charge its just unreasonable.

In case you guys were not aware, we get REALLY ripped off in Britain. :(

Oright i thought you have ordered yours.... How much are they gonna charge us for customs and handling? My dad says that they shouldn't make us pay more than ??10.

They use the tax to buy all those orange cones for construction areas :D

Yeah, traffic cones and random skip placements :)

If you only get charged ??10 Customs and Ship/handling I will be quite surprised.

I think the personal allowance of the item before Tax is anywhere up to ??18. Anything above that, customs slap on the Tax.

Even if the Tax is minimal - say ??5 or less, the courier seems to nearly always have a standard fee to pay (which could be ??10 alone).

I am not sure what the pecentage rate is, but if you deduct ??18 from whatever the total is you are paying for the item (less shipping), then you will know what is taxable.

The case I had created came to around ??60 ish, so you can probably see why i am so apprehensive.

However, you may get lucky and totally slip by customs (I hope so :)), but there is a disclaimer on their website (albeit is 2nd language english) that states that Europe will be subject to taxes. :(

Please keep us informed tho.

My black-on-black 4G Vaja case arrived today...seventeen days from ordering......worth it! There is simply nothing to compare this case to....form, function, style....wow. You get what you pay for...I say, you only live once, go for it!

I don't know...maybe because I ordered basic black-on-black like within a few hours of them announcing they were taking orders...I'm sure it will be along soon...I can't take my eyes off of mine...this morning at a meeting, I casually pulled it out of my briefcase and began listening to some AC/DC....everyone asked me about the case...wait 'till I turn the actual Ipod itself glossy black!

BP

I can't figure out which cases innovacases.com have in stock, a little help?

Also, how much did you guys pay customs? (UK)

I ordered a custom case (classic) for my 3G about two months ago from Vaja.com, they said around 15 days and that turned out to be roughly correct. Shipping was $21, it arrived via Fed-Ex.
Customs duty was 12 quid, Fed-Ex paid it and then billed me for the cash.

I was happy enough, as with the exchange rate at the time it still only came to a total of around 56 quid for a top quality case, not bad I thought.

I've just ordered an Ivolution for my 4G, So I'll see what happens this time. I'll be quite happy to pay another 12 quid for customs again as the exchange rate is still favourable.

P.S. A lot of the time the Innova web site will re-direct you to the international Vaja site anyway, it just depends what they have in stock at the time.

Is the classic case the orange-green one?

Is the classic case the orange-green one?

No, the Classic is the case design with the fold over flap. It's different from the iVolution cases.

Sheesh, never heard of doing your own research :)

I don't think they are available for the 4G's yet, but here is the 3G Classic case.

You'll probably have to navigate to it yourself on Vaja's site but heres a picture,
