I was wondering what is the best way to normalize all of my mp3s so I dont have to adjust the volume on the ipod to account for the different recoring source.

You can turn on the sound check on the ipod itself or adjust the volume of all tracks via iTunes options (use Get Info > Options window) This may distrort your tracks tho'
