You should throw away your iPod and shut up, you are teh suck! Put some duct tape on it and be happy!

Heh, your uncle sounds like an ###...

In regards to the fit, his 3G 40gig is .73" thick, while your 10G is .62" thick. The .11" difference isn't that big of a deal, but you could fill the space with a piece of foam or something similar.

If you're willing to get some paper or foam, then you should be able to rig it just fine. I would suggest some kind of foam to let any heat out.

Just be warned that stuff you stick back there may wear off or melt onto the back of your iPod over time.

We'll post our results. I was thinking the same thing about the heat. Maybe make a pattern of the holes on the iSkin and cut matching holes in the foam. Something fairly porous would help also. Time to hit the arts and crafts store! (ugh)

I wonder if we could find some silicone sheets.

Ooh! I have some extra silicone from an automotive project we could use, that would work great.
