Computer comes up with error when trying to install the ipod CD

I just bought a 3G 15GB ipod and I took it home to install on my computer. I downloaded the Service Pack 4 like it said to do, but I keep getting the following error:

1628: Failed to complete installation

I'm running on a custombuilt Athlon 1200XP (about) Windows 2000 Pro system.

I wonder is this a new iPod or one off eBay?
Are your sure that is not a Mac only CD-ROM?

To be safe, and up to Date. Download the lattest Update & Restore Software from Apple.
