I have special needs for a 4G iPod case

I mainly use my iPod in my car. I have a ProClip dash mount for my iPod. The mount is designed to hold a caseless iPod. So basically I need a case that will protect my iPod as I carry it in my pants pocket out and about and to the car. Of course, when I get to the car, I'll have to take it out of the case to mount in on my dash. I need a case that makes it very easy to remove the iPod. I currently have a DLO Action Jacket which I used for my 3G and it worked fine (other than scratching the screen and being a bit bulky) for quick removal. Now that I have a 4G I need a new case.

I see that most people around here recommend the iSkin or the Lajo skins. I've got a couple of questions about those cases:

1. Is it quick and easy to remove the iPod from those cases?

2. What's the deal with the separate screen protectors? I have seen the ones on the iSkin site that aren't even a part of the case. Would the separate screen protector cause problems when trying to constantly remove the iPod from the case to put in my car? Does the Lajo skin have the same type of screen protector (their site never works)?

I would like recommendations on other inexpensive cases ($30 or less) also. Any case that is inexpensive, slim (not bulky like the DLO Action Jacket), has a screen protector, and makes it easy to remove the iPod.

iskins are very thin.. so i dont think you should have a problem mounting in you car..... im probably 75% sure it will tho. happy huntin'

Not even a thin case will fit in the ProClip mount. It's countoured to fit the iPod exactly. I must be able to take the iPod out of the case everytime I get in my car.

That looks pretty sweet. Even so much as to justify the more expensive price. It's a shame it's not coming out until 9/17/04 though. :(

You could use a leather holster-style case, where the iPod can be used while inside it but can also be easily removed. I bought the 3G version of this case (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/72602/wo/8D2uc7fjTm4J3WQr91j1eM6AQBb/1.3.0.6.10) at my local Apple store at an open-box price of $15. If your 4G is the 40GB model, you should have no trouble fitting it in the 2G 5GB size. I'm not sure about the 4G 20GB, though.
