Can OS X work with Windows? Does anyone know if there is a Jaguar for Windows out there?
Thanks.

Hi,
Mac OS X is an operating system. Right now it is only available for PowerPC based Systems, but there are rumours that it is in Development for x86-based Systems.
The Question cant be answered like this. Its like asking "Is BMW available for Fords ?" ;)

Apple probably won't ever release OSX for Windows, because unlike Microsoft, which is a siftware company, Apple is a Total Package company. They sell software and hardware, and see the two as essential to each other.

Hey,
could anyone explain to me what "MacOS X for Windows" should mean ? Or do you mean Aqua for Windows ?

Nope, there is no OS X for PCs. However, the Rhapsody OS does work on PCs. It was a next-gen OS created by Apple around 1998 and provides the framework for OS X. In fact, a lot of applications on OS X remain virtually the same as their Rhapsody counterparts.
Rhapsody does not feature the aqua interface (instead it looks strikingly similar to OS 9, with a few subtle differences). But if you want a Mac OS on your PC, Rhapsody is probably the only way to go.
BTW, Rhapsody was actually created by Apple, but was never actually released. It can still be found in beta form on P2P clients however.

THanks, people, that's kind of what I assumed, but I read some review of OS X and they said something about it being able to run on PCs. I guess the author was on acid?

There's a rumor that, somewhere in the depths of the earth beneath Cuppertino, there is a fully updated Wintel copy of OS X that matches the current development copy of Jaguar. It's called "Marklar." It can run on any Pentium-compatible system, and it can run any software for OSX.
I'll believe it when I see it (or install it, heh), of course. I'd sure like to give it a whirl, no doubt.
If it exists at all, that is.

Well that is quite interesting c.c.r. Something to think about.
If you are desperate to have the look of OS X then you could always try this (http://www.jonmega.com/~iceman/).
I think Adam or Kurt may have downloaded this set.??

Aye, Bob, Iceman's is cool though.
Thing is, to install everything is a giant pain in the ###. For reals.
Isn't the whole point of the OS X thing to eliminate pains in our arses? :D
Sides, it's not the look I'm after, it's the code. I wanna run that OS and, naturally, run the software that runs on that OS.
I just don't wanna have to buy any extra hardware. ;)

So how easy is it to download and install? Is there anything I should know before I try it out?

Kurt,
I agree. But sometimes fancy clothes is enough!!
I will pray to the great OS in the sky for Apple to release OS X for Windows, every night:D
Better draw a line right now before we're accused of starting a platform war;)

Hmmm... isn't there an emulator for PC that runs Mac called Fusion? I heard that once, and thought it'd be a good idea for people with a pc, and not enough $$ for a mac.
there's lots o' mac emu's out there but they pretty much max out at 68040 compatibility (i.e. 68k).
fusion, softmac, and my fav...executer 32 by ardi soft.
money isn't always a reason not to use a mac, you know... ;)
