Too Artificial

I've had a 1G iPod since they came out, but never bothered to mount it in the WRX, even though I had always used it via cassette adapter. When the 4G iPods were announced I ordered one the same day. To try and limit the scratches my 1G experienced, I decided to do some type of mounting in my car.
I bought a Radio Shack cell phone vent mount and it installed very easily once I decided where I wanted it, which was to the left of the steering wheel. I chose this location primarily because the vent can be closed off to keep the heat/ac off the iPod but as it turns out I really like it there because it's so easy to reach.

As you can see in the pictures, I was running the cassette adapter wire across the steering column and then wrapped it around the vent/mount a few times. This wasn't very clean but it was functional.
On Friday, I picked up the Belkin Auto Kit at Best Buy since I had a couple gift cards and I only had to shell out $12 after using them. As soon as I put the Belkin in the car I realized the white/gray cable was way too bright for my interior. Xsfo recommended using vinyl dye to change the cable color (thanks!) so I picked up some flat black dye at the auto store today (Sunday).
After patiently taping the Belkin using painters tape, applying the dye, and letting it cure, I was able to get it installed in the car. I ran the cable down the side of the center console, up under the dash/steering area, and through one of the dummy switch covers. I drilled a whole in the cover itself for the wiring. It's still not as clean as some installs I've seen here, but I'm pretty happy with the results.
