Etymotic 6i for $109 & in-stock?

What's more, the store has the 6i in stock, according to a poster at www.head-fi.org.

I don't know anything about the store or the earphones, but I thought some folks here might be interested.

It saids their "sister company" was iDealSound, is a reputable company, he's a sponsor at Head-fi. i just emailed iDealSound to see if he has got Er-6i in stock yet. Will keep u posted.

Yup, I just got replies from Paul. Went to his new site and ordered a pair of the 6i's. They should get here at about the same time as my 2XS. ;)

Thanks ayn. I also just got an e-mail from Paul saying that they would be in tomorrow as well. I think I'm going to go for them. I was going to wait until some reviews came out, and then decide between the 6i's or the E3c's, but at that price, I think I'll just go with the 6i's.

ok i couldnt wait any longer, they look awesome and buy the reviews of the er6's im sure these are far better in sound and quality. ordered through paypal, but how do i know if there in stock? i just want them before i leave for my vacation to the keys!

Just adding to the thread, here's some info from Etymotics on the differences beween the ER-6 and the ER-6i:

We have had many requests to come out with a white ER-6 for the iPod. If we simply did that it would make customers happy. Why would that be a bad or sell-out type of thing? We have worked with Apple, and we demonstrated how the iPOD rolled off the low frequencies, depending on headphone load.

The ER-6i is more than a white ER-6. We used a different transducer than the normal ER-6 and increased the sensitivity and lowered the impedance. The extra sensitiivity and low frequency output will be usefull for many low powered players.

There have been some tooling changes which allowed us to skip the metal bushing for the sound output. The smaller sized tube requires different eartips, but will fit more comfortably in smaller ears. The ER-6i will also use a strain relief to help reduce cable breakage at the transducer.

We don't expect to have production quantity of the ER-6i until the end of July, and it may take a couple weeks more before end customers get their orders filled.

Alright everyone, I have read every post about Shure's vs Etymotics and I still have not come to a conclusion. So I ask everyone here who went ahead and purchased the 6i why they chose these over the Shure's and why they did so without waiting for reviews. At $105+Shipping I too am tempted to buy a pair since the Shure's are a bit more expensive. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

obviously people are buying the ety's because they're the first name brand 'phones said to be specifically made for the iPod, geared to the iPod's sound. nobody knows what they sound like; only that they come from a reputable company.
