I just got a Itrip so I can listen to the pod in the car. I was just using the headphones but I got pulled over by a cop the other day and he told me I could not wear them while driving.
There are a bunch of channels to chose from but could anyone reccomend a really good one for me.
I live in Palmdale Ca. (about 60 miles North of L.A.) I drive the 14 freeway to the 5 south to the 170 and either get off in Burbank, Hollywood or Downtown L.A., if I go to L.A. I need to get on the 101 as well (depends were I am working that day)
If anyone is fam. with where I live and drive could you reccomend a good channel to set the pod to.
Thanks guys.

i live in southern california, in glendale and i commute to hollywood everyday. i have not found a decent station to use. some will work in some areas, and then you'll be driving and it gets interference. it is too much of a hassle. i just got mine so i'll be returning it this week i think. I've had no luck with it here in LA...if anyone has, let me know

I can use allot of chanels around my house because I live in the middle of nowhere. Someone said something about downloading U.K. channels and using them. I dont know how this will help because we are still limited to our radio channels. If anyone knows what this person that told me this was talking about please explain it to me.

Itrip is useless unless you live in alaska, antartica or Hicktown KS will give you a hard time finding a clear channel to use. I tried it in Montreal, Canada and even here where we are nowhere near what SoCal cities are like in terms of population and airwave usage, I had no luck finding a proper channel.

Yeah...I'm noticing the same thing. There are really no useable channels here in So. Cal. I'm in Burbank and San Fernando all the time and the thing is a piece of crap.
However, when I go up to Big Bear I use it all the time. There are hardly any radio stations that come in up there so it's mighty useful there, especially when I'm on the boat out on the lake.

Well I live in Long Beach, so I have similar problems, although not as bad as in LA. I use 88.5, and it usually works. SOmetimes I get a little interference, but it passes as long as I keep moving. Also I downloaded all the stations from the Griffin website, so I can use any one I please. The ones included don't represent the whole spectrum. That might help, especially if you have a car radio that doesn't just scan the odd stations.

I live in Canyon Country so you live near me (and i drive to San Fernando daily for work) .
I have an iPod mini and i use the iTrip mini. I have had great success using 99.1 but i also have modifyed the iTrip's antenna. I peeled off the sticker on the top and extended the wire antenna as high as it would go. I find that it gets a little better after i did this so i kept it that way.

I am using this FM modulator (http://www.davidnavone.com/linedrivers.html) (the N-724) and am extremely happy. It is a quality unit that when you turn it on it cuts off your existing antenna to reduce bleed over. It only runs on two frequencies but honestly it would be fine with just one.
Anyhow.... I have mine wired up from my power antenna so when I choose radio on the HU it would normally put up the antenna. I added my own SPDT switch to "intercept" this wire and with the switch down I'm in iPod mode with the switch up I'm in FM mode (relates to the antenna... I didn't label the switch just mounted it in my glovebox.
Sorry... got way off topic there.... I have purchased several other items from David Navone and ahve found them to be quite nice to deal with.
Good luck....
Edit - I'm also in sunny SoCal....

Oh yeah there's a new FM transmitter, might be worth a look. Has a fixed 107.7 fixed frequency so I'm guess it's powerful.
Check it out here (http://eshop.macsales.com/Catalog_Item.cfm?ID=7016&Item=NWTROADTRIP)

Damn it, I live in Orange County and just bought an iTrip II for my new 4G 20gb iPod off eBay because the stupid review on this site said it was good and it worked. Ugh... it's brand new so maybe I can return it somewhere and get my money back.
