I just got my new e3c's yesterday and am very happy with the so far. Has anyone shelled out the cash to have custom molds made? I am seriously considering it. If you have please reply. I spend alot of time on planes so comfort is my number 1 concern. I am also curious if there is a best way to put the buds in the case that came with them. I had to scrunch up the cable a little more than I would like to get them to fit.

How much are you willing to spend? You might want to purchase a custom phone from Ultimate ears, Sensaphonics or Westone--the drivers are built into the mold itself, and these type of phones sound fantastic--not to mention how comfortable they are. They're expensive though--the cheapest being $550.00.

I did custom earmolds for E2's, and they were terrible. The comfort was great, but the sound was awful. They were about $100.00 if I remember correctly. The E3's may stand up better to custom molds--I'd contact Shure to see what they recommend; they'll probably recommend Sensaphonic molds IF they recommend them at all--or they may tell you to stay away from the custom molds for the E3's (they do not recommend custom molds for the E2's--I tried anyway, and Shure was right. If they don't recommend custom molds for the E3's, I would strongly recommend you take their advice. If they do recommend them, go with the vendor they recommend--I'm pretty sure they recommend Sensaphonic for people who want custom molds for the E5s').

And before you go the custom route, make sure you try all the options--triflanges were the most isolating and comfortable for me with Ety4P's; if your E3's didn't come with tri-flanges, you can order them.
