I have recently purchased the best in-car ipod solution for my 2000 Ford Explorer. It is somewhat similar to the new Griffin Road Trip, but smaller, sleeker, and includes an audio out jack. I would suggest this mount for anyone who needs an all-in-one charger, mount, and FM transmitter (with iTrip).

Er, would you mind telling what it is, and posting links to where it can be purchased?

It is called the "iMount" by Seidio

It can be purchased at www.seidio.com

Hope this helps

more specifically: www.seidioonline.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=SMCIPOD

This is the older version. I believe they have a newer version with a built in fm transmitter, but I already have an iTrip. If you have an iTrip I recommend the iMount found in the link above.

Okay, thanks! ;) I have an Expedition and have been wondering how I could mount and power my iPod in there. This seems to be a good solution.

Only thing holding me back is that it is not iSkin compatible.

I would be nervous about it falling out of the power plug. My cell charge pulls right out, what about the weight of the ipod hanging on that thing.

looks good to me, I think the hinge would have to be pretty strong right? how about you tell us if it moves around or how good it holds when you are on the road. some feedback please, thanks.

The charger sits securely in the cigarette socket. It comes with an adapter that makes it fit tightly in the socket if your socket is too big. The hinges are very strong, and even on rough roads, the unit hardly moves. There are two hinges, which makes the unit compatible with most dashboards. I really haven't found a single problem with the operation of the imount. The only thing I might do is paint the unit black to match the black dashboard of my car.

Does anybody know if this unit is 4G compatible? I tried emailing the company but they didn't respond.

that works unless your socket is in a crappy spot.

Yes, this should be compatible since both the 3G and 4G use the same connector.

I posted in another thread, but in the interest of trying to get an answer and share some info.... My friend ordered one of these and the line out jack on the side is screwed up. We both have hard-lines going into aux inputs on our head units se we want to use this jack which grabs the line out from the dock port on the iPod. I havent ordered one yet but my friends Seidio's jack only sends out one channel of audio. If you jiggle the cord you can change which side it comes out of and generate a lot of crackling, but it never comes out in stereo. We tried two different mini cables (my vehicle and his) and the mini cables work on the headphone out of the iPods so its got to be the jack on this mount. Is anyone using the jack built into it?
