i just got my 10gb ipod and im experiencing some thing that might be able to be fixed through apple under warranty. What is the turnaround time roughly if i were to send my ipod in to them for repair? How long would it take for me to get it back, and also what are the chances of me getting a brand new one as opposed to it just getting fixed?

Well... if someone at Airborne doesn't change your zipcode on the package because s/he thinks it's wrong, then you can expect it overnight. But if they do, you can expect it in 2-4 days of when you ordered the dispatch to be sent. And that's with constant complaining and lots of annoyances. But since it's overnight delivery (with no screw ups) it should take about a week I would think. 2 days for them to get the box after you ship it, 1 day to inspect/fic/replace it, and 2 more days to fix it. That is, with a simple problem. But that's just what I think.

I disagree. As you can see in my own post, i sent my 15gb in for service a month ago, and I *still* don;t have it bac. Apple claims that they are out of stock and have no replacement units to send me, though I have 2 friends that have ordered and received their untis in the meantime.

Well... that's really odd. After my Airborne issues, I sent my iPod on Monday. I constantly called them asking "What is the status of my iPod" or something of that sort. They told me I'd get a replacement in 7-10 days. Amazingly, I got an iPod (with one helluva dark blue screen) on that following Thursday. Maybe I was just lucky?

maybe they have more 10gb units on hand than 15gb's. either way, waiting one month for a replacement is IMHO unacceptable.
i should mention, however, in one call last week where i told them i was fed up, and i wanted my $$$ back so that i could by a player from another company, they apologized [again] for the delau and offered to send me any ipod accessory for free. i asked for another dock, which i will use at work.
i do appreciate that they are 'trying' but overall, as i said, this is unaccepable.

One month and only a free dock? Wow... that's not right...

a dock costs $10 on ebay. give me a break. I will take my chances until this new ipod busniness dies down and i can get some real service before i mess with them.

o and when my first 15gb started to skip, i had my brother who worked at apple exchange it. he simply brought it into his store, had a tech look at it, and replaced immediately with a brand new shrinkwrapped one. of course this may be a special case, but if your ipod is fairly new (within 14 days) try bringing it to an apple store, and you may just get lucky.
