Well, i've just ordered a 12" iBook from Apple, horrah :D

Anyway, does anyone know where I can get that hack that allows me to use 2 screens at the same time like a powerbook/iMac etc?

Are there ANY drawbacks to using a Windows Formatted iPod on a Mac? Surely there must be or wouldnt it just be easier for the iPod to ONLY be windows formatted.

Can you give me any other interesting/informative things to tell me about concerning ibooks/macs in general?

I don't know for sure, but if you want to easily use iSync to move your Calendar and Contacts onto the iPod, it needs to be Mac formatted. Not sure about other issues. But if you do plan to use the iPod exclusively with the mac, its probably best to reformat it.

The hack, which can be dangerous, is here:

It look there may be some sort of utility to help with the process. Good luck!

In what way can it be dangerous?

I have a win formatted iPod I use with my 12" iBook and it syncs with iSync just fine. I have never had a problem. I even did a total restore to clean it off from the pc and put everything back on from the Mac. Worked like a charm.

So when my iBook arrives, what is best to do you think? Restore it on windows, put all song files on the iPod as a disk mode, put the songs on Mac and then just use it as normal?

I cant really see the point of having a Mac formatted iPod when I have a PC and so does my Dad and I may want to connect to those too!

Give it a try, leaving it as a PC formatted iPod then. Certainly try it if you think you'll be connecting to PCs from time to time.

The hack can be dangerous since you need to make changes to the firmware. I've read reports of laptops being rendered useless by people messing with this. If you're careful, its probably not a big deal, but you never know!

hmmm, yeah its a bit of a risk!

Can I still put the iBook onto another monitor? Not use 2 monitors but simply put the ibook onto a bigger screen? Or is it the same as dual screening?
