I'd love to see some photos of what you guys did to hide the blitzsafe adapter in your trunk and also how you ran the wires up to the front. I'm probably going to put my ipod in a Tunedok so I'll want the cable to come up to the cup holders. I'm going to use the Sik din for the line-out. I was wondering if you all leave your auto-kits (or in my case the Sik din) in the car all the time. Will the heat/cold effect the Sik din?

Thanks.

just out of curiosity, why would you do an install in the trunk?

I'm not interested in taking out the stock headunit to wire it from the back of it. Just seems like alot of work. But I am capable of doing a trunk install myself.
I have a New Beetle with the wiring in the trunk for a CD changer so it seems pretty simple to do it this way.

well, check out my jetta install. its actually not hard at all to remove the vw head units, there are 2 tools you can get from your VW dealer for about $5. regardless, you shouldnt hane a problem with heat or cold in the trunk. make sure when buying an aux input adapter you specify you want it for the trunk wire harness in teh VW, as it is not exactly the same at the plug behind the head unit. i have extensive knowledge of stereo installs in VWs, so please feel free to email/PM me with any questions

Thanks! That is a great install. I was initially going to put it in the armrest and it looks really cool. Do you find the armrest enough protection for it. I mean you don't put it in an iskin or anything. Do you take it with you when you get out of the car? I'm wondering if I can leave it in there when I go to work.

I'm pretty excited my iPod should be arriving today. I will definately send you an email if I get stuck during my install.

yes, i think the arm rest is the perfect place to put the ipod. i live in los angeles, and i pretty muchleave the ipod in the car whereever i go. i mean, if i vallet it or or something, ill put it in the glove box or something, but thats about it.

I have an iskin that i use with my ipod when it isnt in the car, the ipod is securly in the mount in the armrest, and i dont put anything else in there to scratch the ipod.

the only downside is the ability to control/view the ipod. thats why i wired in the ipod remote. i have detailed instructions for removing the arm rest if you need, let me know.

Well I got my adapter yesterday and tested it out in the Beetle and it works great!! This is soooo cool! I am still wondering how I can hid the adapter in the trunk though. I ususally have the back seats folded down and golf clubs, etc thrown in the back so I need some way to protect the adapter instead of having it hanging out in the open. Has anyone seen some kind of small metal box type thing that I could screw to the side that would encase the adapter?
