Both my DLO FM transmitter and a friend's non transmitter version have intereference from the cigaretter lighter they're plugged into whether I use the radio output or a line-out to the aux input on the head unit in my Ford UK Mondeo There's a high pitched whine which changes as I use the accelerator.

Testing without plugging into the lighter gives beuatiful clear sound.

Can anybody help me get rid of this please. If I need a Ground Loop Isolator (which seems to be quite a size judging from the Radio Shack pics in the link from the Sticky) can anybody suggest a retailer and give me some pointers on how to fit it.

TIA. John.

Sounds like you do need a GLI. You just install it between your HU and Ipod. I really is not that big. I bought mine from Radio Shack.

I thought that the noise sounded too high pitched for the "hum" that a ground loop isolator would fix.

But I've ordered one now and I'll see how it goes.

Thanks for your replies guys.

I have a new Ford mondeo model with the factory cas stereo (with NAV).... I had a friend of mine set up the ipod connection, and he made it so that its an fm connection but directly connected to the car stereo for stonger fm signal. thing works pretty good but I too have the "accellerating" problem as I hear interference as soon as I hit the gas. Isn't there a way to connect it directly to the car stereo in order to have a "direct connection" (such as the one from my CD changer???)

Would love to have it made so that it can be controlled directly from the radio, but apparently ic can only be done with the new mp3 supporting ALPINE car stereos, is that true????????
