There's a massive difference in price for these two earphones, is there a massive difference in quality?
Are the E5's more basey than the 71's?
Is the overall sound quality far superior on the E5's?
Cheers!

I'm Shure (haha) that the Shure's are far superior. They are studio quality phones, while the Sony's are low priced crap.
I'm sure the Sony's are not crap in and of themselves, but when compared to something like the E5's, they will not even begin to be on the same wavelength.
It has nothing to do with more or less "basey".
The quality and tightness, will be SO MUCH BETTER in the E5's. They are dual driven earphones also, which makes a BIG difference.
The e5's obviously deliver greater sound quality than the ex71. Otherwise, people wouldn't buy them. I personally am not a big fan of the e5's sound however. They aim for a bassy and colored sound. You can save yourself some money by getting an Etymotic ER4. If you want to get into really high end stuff, there is Ultimate Ears and Sensaphonics, but that equipment is too pricey for portable situations unless lead a lifestyle where you are on the road on the time. In that case they may be a wise purchase.
