thats right, im thinking of getting a ipod mini... im not convinced that its the best thing to go with... i want you guys to tell me what is soo great about the ipod besides the music playing abilities.. what else can it do?? i have read lots of reviews and its sounds pretty cool. its abviously has a huge fan-base and im startin to like it alot......
i heard that u can use the Ipod Mini as a external hd and you can put things, on it and transer it to another computer or copy some stuff to other computer(s).. does it work like a memory stick? i only have a 800 mb music library (puny eh?) its not as big as some others. so i decided the 4gb Ipod Mini would be nice. TY

Without coming across as a JERK (which is kind of hard for me), it's not up to us to convince you of anything. Why not just brows around and READ or perhaps do some research here in the lounge and elsewhere. Then make an informed decision. In other words, do the freakin leg work yourself. If you can't do that, send me $400 and see what I send you back...;)

I have often thought about getting the iPod (extreme pun intended). Why should you get the Mini????
First of all, you should have posted this question in the MINI area to receive the most support towards MINI. From my post on people will be convincing you to get the regular iPod.....don't listen to them if you want the Mini.
Yes, the mini can be used for external HDD. You should probably visit
www.apple.com/ipod
first before asking obvious Q's about the player....from then on we, here, can tell you why you should get the iPod or Mini.

Besides the iPod Mini playing music, there isn't too much stuff. However, you can have your Outlook contacts put onto it. There is also an alarm which can be cool if you hook your iPod into speakers. It'll wake you up with you favorite song/playlist. There are also some pretty cool games. The music quiz and solitare are a few of them. You aren't going to find a better MP3 player of the Mini's size, hdd space, and weight. The iPod Mini is great, I highly recommend it.

You can also download weather, news, play games, do istories (basically more games), horriscopes. I was like you when I first got an Ipod. I had less than I gig of music and didn't know what to do. I just bought one out of no where and loved it. It's instant entertainment anywhere and IMO they look really nice. And as I had the Ipod longer I got more and more music and now have round 5 gb. I would suggest you pick one up but it's really your decision

The iPod is a MUSIC PLAYER. IT PLAYS MUSIC. It can be used as a hard drive. That's it.

I was given one for my birthday, and it has changed the way I listen to music. I like mine a lot. I don't know if I would be able to justify myself spending the cash on one, but it's my most played with "toy" these days.

Just buy one. Then, you can come here and whine about how it's scratched, or that it doesn't make coffee, or that Apple won't update the firmware to 3.0 or whatever.

You have 800 mb and unless you think you'll need more than 4GB sometime soon, I'd go with the Mini.

I got a 40GB because I knew 4GB wouldn't be nearly enough. A 20 would work but I'm getting close to 20GB now and like having the extra space for use as a portable Hard Drive.

The Mini is very cool and well worth the $250 (don't pay more than that on eBay!)

$200 remaining, you've got a way to go? Good luck!

Macrumors.com doesn't seperate iPods and mini iPods? I wonder what the second generation of Mini will be (if they ever meet the demand of 1G mini, I guess it will be a long time)

you can do what i did, buy like 6 or 7 mini's and use the profit to pay for a mini.

heck this beats the free ipod referal stuff :) and faster too.

that works if you have a few thousand just sitting around to spend.
