I got my 10gb g3 iPod last night, for which I'd been waiting and saving for a long while. It's incredible! I was going to get it and a FireWire card at Best Buy, but when I went they had no FireWire cards, so I quickly drove across the street the Circuit City, got an Adaptec card, and drove back to Best Buy. The manager opened the glass case, and there were two: one open-box for $269 and one new one for $299. He asked if I'd like to see the open-box one, and it was pretty good, but had a large spot of "unknown stuff" on the screen, so he offered it for lower. I asked if the stuff might come off with cleaner, so he went in the back and tried. He came back and had been unsuccessful, but he said because I had gone through all that he'd give me the new one for $269!:D I of course accepted and was planning to get a 4-year PSP, but they said it was only 2-year, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do there.
Then, I got home and started it charging, but all there was only an Apple icon on the screen, so I wasn't sure what it was doing. I then looked online, and found out how to reset it, and then it started charging normally. While it was charging, I installed the FireWire Card. When it loaded, it couldn't find the drivers on the Windows CD, so after fiddling with it for an hour or two, I finally downloaded the needed drivers off of the internet. And it worked! I have Win98se, so I skipped the installation CD and just used EphPod, and it was wonderfully fast and easy. I am amazed and how intuitive the interface is and how great the sound quality is. This is definitely worth for $300.
