Alright, has anyone had problems with the iSkin screen cover?

It was fine when I first got it a few weeks ago, but gradually it's been getting these smudges on it. I can't explain where they are coming from, I have only used my mini in the car and in bed when I read, and none of those times have I set the mini down on the screen side, matter of fact, it just went straight into the plastic case the iSkin came with. For the last week or so the thing has been sitting on my bartop and I haven't touched it at all, yet the smudges are getting worse. Windex won't take them off, Dawn did nothing. They aren't scratches, they look more like I dripped something on it, and they are on both sides or the protector.

Anyone have any idea?

I take that to be a 'no' then?

maybe your fingers smudged it, my screen protector has some smudges and scratches on it, but it doesnt bother me much, and its better than getting an ####ed up mini screen.

I have an iSkin protector too, but for a normal 3g iPod. My screen protector came preloaded with permanent smudges and they have gotten worse. I think thats just the nature of the screen protector. They have high quality cases, but the screen protector isn't that great...

Murf...wonderful.

Mine are so bad I can hardly see the screen anymore. They are right in the center of the screen which sucks.

Oh well. I'm compulsively careful with it anyway so it should be ok without the screen protector. Thank you iSkin people for sending them along with that plastic case I say.

Thanks for replying guys.

the screen protector does seem to be a pack of trouble for people...mine arrived chipped in the mail  , however iskin said they will ship out a replacement next week. no confirmation email yet after i sent them my address. quite irritating. i'm surprised it would develop smudges, though. scratches seem to be the more common complaint. u can order a replacement from iskin, though, but the price is something like 5 bucks a pop plus shipping. a bit expensive, but so are the other screen protectors you could get. might wanna email iskin if ur interested.

Is it possible that you have touched the screen protector after applying bug repellant? DEET the active ingredient in most bug spray that works, is known to eat away plastic. In high concentrations (like the heavy-duty deepwoods versions) it leaves smudges on plastic that are actually more like very small etchings.

Thats an idea.. but regardless just order a new one if it bothers you. :)
