pretty please:
how about being able to change playlists via the inline remote - no more having to get ipod out, unlock it, fiddle around, catch the eye of the local mugger etc...
otherwise i'm going to have to start selling 'iMug' t-shirts on here

Haha, lol. I live in NYC and that's certainly a concern of mine as well. I go to the trouble to route the cord up under my shirt (usually a t-shirt), clip the remote discretely to the pocket in which hides my pod, and then...I have to pull it out to change playlists. And aside from mugging, I just hate looking like a spoiled rich kid. I used every last available penny to buy my iPod, paid my rent with the remaining funds, but none of that is obvious to the casual observer.

i dunno, i think i'd have to disagree...
trying to navigate thru your playlists with the remote would kind of negate the whole elegance of the playlist interface. and what if the one you want is 25 away from the one you're currently on? click, click, click... and how would you tell which one you'd selected? i guess maybe it could speak the names thru your headphones, but i'm not thinking apple text-to-speech is gonna pronounce most of my playlist names very well... ;)
i also wear mine totally under my clothes, i put it on with my work clothes in the morning. i don't like whipping it out, either (spoiled rich kid vibe here too, even tho i had to finance mine on an apple loan). maybe duck into a phone booth?? :D or just choose the 'subway mix' playlist before you leave home, and stick to that one for the whole ride...

both fair points - last time i checked i wasn't a spoilt and certainly not a kid anymore :p but the point is the remote interface would be improved by even a sleep button - i hate the idea of leaving it on when i'm done listening
i think that maybe another idea is to be able to chain playlists this could get over the need for playlist navigation on the remote
BUT i still want the sharp metal edges taken off the thing because they can really scratch the ipod casing front and back

Take a little time and make some playlists for long play times. I have short lists of my favorites, but I also have lists of all songs by artist. These run for hours. I skip over things I'm sick of, but they last for long trips with little need to get to the dial.
