Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. Here is my tribute to my favorite band, Alkaline trio. I bought an extra face and painted it with a black base coat. The graphics were made via printable water transfer decal paper. I simply printed them out and transfered them just like regular decals to the ipod face (it was a royal pain). The final step was to add layer upon layer of clear gloss coat. Overall I am very satisfied. The decals are a little grainy up close and the screen on the face was pretty scratched when I got so I still have to take care of that. The scroll wheel and the buttons work perfectly despite the layers of paint and decals. You can sorta see how the red/orange lights illuminate the eyes of the skulls. Oh yeah, I did the brushed metal finish on the back also.

I have an airbrush. I wonder how that would work with enamel. It would definitely get rid of any brush marks, and make it like auto paint. Hmmm.... :D

Where do you get spare facias? I quite fancy doing something a bit mad. *Wonders what a pearlescent flip paint would look like*

Buttons and scroll wheel work perfectly. As for the face, I actually bought it from a guy on here but they appear every now and then on ebay. Look to pay around $30 or more.

I'm thinking about airbrushing my 4G. A guy suggested I make something in Photoshop and have it layed on my iPod in vinyl. Sounds badass, but I still have to research it some more.

very very cool. the black face reminds me of the first few ad's for the 2G (was it 3G) which were the black face/red lights. just though those were always very slick. nice job!

I'll just say what the brushed metal guy would say:

"I see you brushed the back! Good job!"
