hey all
im a fairly new ipod user and the head phones that came with the pod just doesnt cut it for me any more. i love music with alot of bass in it whis the earbuds dont really come through on.
so my question is what is you favorite/ or best headphones out there.
P.S. ive been looking at the bose triport head phones. and i have a budget of around 200 bucks.

Oh yeah go with the Triports. They're the absolute best. I'd actually spend that much money on headphones if I used over-ear headphones more. As it is, I don't even own a pair. But yeah they're totally worth it.

I would suggest the Grado SR-225. These have very good sound for the price. The Bose Triports are known to have very poor sound quality. They sound muddy and are incapable of giving a decent amount of detail. Not recommended.

No, in fact I would say the Triports are better than the Grados. The Triports don't have a muddy or low-quality sound at all. And they give fine detail. They are literally one of the best pairs of headphones I've listened to.

Wow, you are the only one I know of that has that opinion. It's pretty well established among the headphone forums and chats that I frequent, that the Triports are a well inferior phone to the price equivalent Grados or even Sennheisers. Apparently the Triports are colored, unnatural sounding, bassy, inarticulate, and have a narrow soundstage.

The fact that he said he doesn't even own a pair might have to do with his opinion.

There's only one contender: The Sennheiser HD25-1, which is just at your budget. It's not just me: You'll find them highly rated by independent retailers who have a passion for things headphone-related.

- Sounds good, bassy without being 'car sub'. Rest of sound exhibits excellent clarity.
- Very isolated
- Very durable
- Very portable
- Works very well with the iPod.

For portable use, the HD25-1 blows any comparable Grado away due to it's combination of sound, durability, portability, isolation, practicality and efficiency.

Well I had the triports for about a week and a half, maybe 2 weeks and did not like them at all. Comfort is about the only plus side I found to them. Sure they sound decent but there are other headphones out there for a lower price that produce equal or better sound. Currently I'm using Senn HD212 pro's and love those, and about $80 or 90 less than the TriPorts. I may look into a pair of grados for home use soon though.

Yeah, stay away from the TriPorts. I don't like their sound at all. Very muddy and way too warm. The sound just isn't natural at all. For $80 or so you can get the Grado SR-60 and those will blow away the Bose.

If you can spend $200, go with a Grado or Sennheiser. If you want isolation, then the Senn HD25-1 would be your best bet. If you don't need isolation, then compare the Grados or some of the open-air Senns.
