I've had my 3g iPod for about a week and I already have a scratch on the screen, I want to buy a case for it, which is the best?

I recently bought the incase leather sleeve and I'm really liking it.

The cases from iSkin.com are nice. The colours look nice as well, especially those Glo ones. I may be getting one for the 4G

Yeah get an iSkin eVo. They're great and they come with a perfect screen protector. Plus they look good.

Anyone know a skin that you can dock the iPod in? Thats one thing I wish I could do with mine.

Thanks,
Pete.

no theiSkins suck, if u want the best protection, then get a vaja i-Vod. Made in Top of the line Leather.

Thanks for that incredibly productive post xavier. Maybe next time you slog a product you can actually give reason as to why the product in question "sucks."

The iSkin is pretty good. It attracts dust but that side effect should go away in a month or so. They look cool and it fits very well with the iPod.

iSkin feels little, how should i put it? Low class. I really like those flip open cases or hard cases such as the showcase by contour. They definatly add class to your ipod.

well, it's depends on what people use. they certainly talk their case or skin first because they totally know what is the good one. in my opinion, Vaja case is reall good but expensive. well, I don't have it. but it looks so nice, and cool. I have two cases, and one skin. for ipod mini, I use ipodfolio small leather case which is looked elegant. for new 4G ipod, I take Belkin ipod case. actually, I didn't use it at all before. I just got it from someon freely. although it is hard to access for control wheel click or menu, it's look like ultimate protection for my ipod. but I don't usually use it a lot, excepting working out.

finally, for mini, I got silicon skin. it's good but get too much dust. so you should clean it frequently.

rofl, ok.

well to begin, i have a iskin evo, and the iskin is very annoying to put on fast and quick. also eve htought it stretchable and will form around the ipod, as it gets older, the holes that go around the 3g buttons get real lose. also the iskin if dropped, will not protect ur ipod as well as a vaja case becaus ethe iskin or any of the lajo products are thin and want protect u against damaging ur harddrive.t he vaja seems to be landing on a pillow when i have dropped it with my vaja. and also i never did like how the iskin attached to all the lints in my pocket, and i would have to clean it everytime.

I'm thinking about someone getting me a vaja case, as I would never pay $50+ for a case...get some cds or something

In the world of PDAs, there is a lot of debate over 'the best case'. TGhe answer usually is "it depends on what you are wanting it to do."

Need sharp looks? Maximum drop protection? Protection while in a bag or pocket? Thinness? Access to every (or specific) controls? No bag or case will do it all, and trying to compare silicone sheaths with top-end leather cases with hard-shell cases is definately an 'apples and oranges' situation.

I owned a Vaja case for my old 2G 20gig and it was by far the best case out there. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? YES!!!

All my friends bought the other kinds and eventually all bought Vajas. Ha! Not to say bad things about the others, as they are fine as well, but once you see how the Vaja protects and looks, you will be sold.

Again, expensive, but worth it.

I've got a Vaja for sale in the classifieds....

I'd get a Vaja but it's too expensive, of course, and I'm a little put off by the "puffy" look. It just sort of makes the iPod look fat. Also there's no protection on the top, which bugs me.
And yes, the iSkin eVo protects from drops. I've dropped my iPod a couple'a times and each time it's ok thanks to my eVo. It's thicker than the Lajo skins, which don't protect from falls well.

I have a vaja flip case (black) for my 3g 15gb Ipod...I am seriously thinking about upgrading to a 40gb 3g Ipod as I can see that I will run out of space on my 15gb soon (I plan on putting my brothers cd collection on my Ipod.) and I underestimated the amount of space I would need just to put the good cd's on my Ipod plus the stuff that I have myself aside from my brother's collection. I have to say that the quality of the vaja flip case is leading me to consider paying 70 to 80 bucks for the 40gb flip case. (I think that open cases [the skin type stuff or the new Ivod] look silly and its hard to find good flip cases that I can bring myself to trust.) As of right now regardless of Ipod generation its Vaja all the way.

Hands down the best case is that Sock thing from eBay.

and yes the Exo 3 offers no protection from falls, it's just like having an iPod in a zip lock bag, but fits better than a ziplock bag. Protects from fingerprints.

I like the Exo2 which covers the wheels and buttons.

Vajo cases are great.

I still am using an oakley sunglass bag for my 4G.

I love my Contour Showcase. Because I take my iPod with my everywhere, it has been dropped several times and gets scratched up in my purse. Here is my assessment of the Contour Showcase:

1) hard case protects iPod from major drops & rough handling
2) clear front is elegant and the buttons are not hard to touch
3) belt clip is nice if you are walking or at the gym - I've gotten a number of inquiries about the case there for some reason

The only downsides are:

1) white rubber case can get dirty quickly so a wash every once in a while is neede
2) an ever so slight 'jiggle' meaning the case is not completely tight around the iPod
3) like most cases you have to remove it to place in the cradle
