View Full Version : Clip On Ear Headphone Suggestions
I'm looking for a high quality cheapish (around $20 is my budget) clip on ear headphone (to clarify, the ones that work and look like these (http://panasonic.jp/headphone/img/clip_b.jpg) . Any suggestions? An audiophile I am not so I don't need amazing sound quality (because I probably wouldn't be able to pick it up anyways), just something comfortable, sturdy, high quality and a decent design to it.
I am considering this one (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00006AMRV/qid=1091274198/br=1-4/ref=br_lf_e_4//002-1849346-1344063?v=glance&s=electronics&n=509314) but it's discontinued which means i have to order it from an Amazon marketplace seller, something I'm not that thrilled about. But anyways, anyone have any opnions about this specifice one? Can you suggest one currently on the market thats similar to this one (thick ear piece, not those thin wire ones and a nice design to it)

You want Koss KSC-50s. Great sound for a great price:

I second that. I got mine mainly for sometihng to wear while active (exercising, mowing, skiing, etc), and they do the job fine. In order to hear all the sounds I'm wanting i have to play them louder than I'd like to, but really that's th eonly complaint.

Thirded, I've got a set for everyday use and they are great. Though they are slightly heavy and "floppy" for want of a better word.
If you can stretch it go for a set of the KSC-35's direct from Koss, they really are fantastic. More retro looking but sturdy, clip on better than the 50's and sound amazing for the price.
Both have a lifetime Koss warranty by the way. :)
Yep I second aqautika. The KSC-35's are slightly smaller than the 50's, sound slightly better (probably in part to the fact that they stay on easier), but from a practical standpoint stay on much, much better--the 50's are just a tad too large to function well as a clip on.
Another alternative is the KSC-55's, with the neckband. Same drivers as the KSC-50's, but the neckband keeps them on tighter--I'm currently using these as I'm waiting for filters for my ety's, and my UE5C's are still in the process of tuning. The KSC-55's are my favorite cheap phone overall (I don't like clip ons, but if I was going to get clip ons, I'd get the KSC-35's over the 50's. If you have trouble finding them, just order them directly from Koss's website).
I was wondering if Koss KSC-50's clip is spring loaded. I actually ended up buying those Aiwa HP-EC101s (basically since I liked the black style better than the 50s silver) but the clip is not spring loaded, it's stiff and opens up to a 90 degree angle. Also the clips sort of clinches the top of my ear which makes it really uncomfortable for long periods of times so I might just buy a pair of the Koss.
Anyone in the market for a barely used Aiwa HP-EC101s? haha..

I use a pair of JVC Clip ons, very cheap and easy to get hold of and they don't sound to bad.
