Armor as Heat Sink?

I've heard before that the Matias Armor is a heat sink-- what does this mean? I bought the armor with the docking port (for 3G iPods) so that I could charge my iPod when it's in the case. Is this ok to do, or will the iPod overheat?

If it really works as a heat sink, it will take heat away from the iPod and provide better air cooling.

Other heat sinks that you might see are the ones on CPUs and air-cooled car & motorcycle engines.
