Best way to format iPod

Good afternoon.

I just got a new 4g ipod. I'm giving my 3g to my daughter, but before I do I want to reset it to factory specs (i.e., none of my music on it).

What's the best way to do this. Just a restore through Ipod manager, or is there a better way?

I"m guessing an easier way is to just clear them off of iTunes ( or whatever you use for importing music. ) and then just update the iPod.
