sypher.. what kinda of car do you have? the sti.. is a boy racer that will blow the doors off most cars on the road. thats what it was made for.

andyH.. i test drove the sti before i got my S4... drive the 04 s4 and see what you think, its a wonderful car. the STI is going to be alittle more uncomfortable on longer drives than your S4 is now... either way.. great cars

I actually agree with you a bit about the styling, that wing is imho too big, and the scoop comes out too high.

That said, the Sti is a complete MONSTAR. It is the car that all these "boy racers" wished they had.

I do dislike all these people driving around in CRX's and Civics with stock engines thinking that they are race car drivers with their 3 foot wings and no mufflers. I'm sorry, but if I can almost keep up with you in my ####ing V6 Explorer that weighs twice as much as your car (probably more), your car is NOT fast and no way in hell is it furious.

If its functional then thats fine, but I do prefer how the scoop on the stock WRX looks.

As for the wing, there is no reason for it to be that big, it doesn't even need a wing.

I have no doubt that the B6 S4 is a fantastic car, and I would love one. But I just couldn't see spending an additional $20k over the cost of the STi for a new S4. Plus, I was looking to get back into something a bit more visceral. The STi fit the bill perfectly.

6-speed manual. I had a bunch of mods on it as well, including:

1) H&R "street" coilover suspension
2) Tanoga short-shifter
3) AWE Twin2 Exhaust (had Milltek prior to that)
4) AWE S-Flo intake
5) AWE Drivetrain Stabilizer (DTS)
6) Bailey Diverter Valves
7) Misc. mods such as tinted windows, RS4 grill, RS4 shift knob, custom Valentine-1 concealed display.

I used to hang out and post on AudiWorld.com quite often, but haven't been on there much in the last 6 months or so.

How about your S4? Any plans for mods?

bhb399mm
08-09-2004, 02:15 PM
Unfortunately not, my S4 is an 18 month lease and audi doesnt alow you to mod their leases. i'm haveing a hard time even convincing them that installing an ice link wont void my lease agreement. i just got 19" BBS LM rims tho.. thats all that i'll be doing. i wish i could put a kit on it, but i'll live... im the way of performance, i wouldnt change a thing.

Not being critical, but what is that? Is it a van? A MPV? A People carrier?

I guess it's American right?

Certainly looks like it serves a purpose.

That my friend is a Honda Element. It is:

A car
A SUV
A SUT
A Van
A mobile Motel Room
Whatever you want....

I call it my mini-hummer. The only regret I have with this car is that I am not 20 year old any more cause the seats fold back to form two single beds... I just can't imaging how good a time I would have had with my ex girlfriends in this ride...

Now it serves primarly as a soccer dad carrier cause it's got pucke, grime and mud resistant seats and floor.

The ultimate well tought vehicule IMHO.

I (and many of my friends) have had more problems with the 99-03 VWs than I can handle. VW seems to deny these problems as long and vociferously as possible and only do a recall or partial recall just as a ####storm of bad pub is about to blow up.

I had a 93 Jetta before the Golf and loved it- never had any probs.

Got sucked in by the beauty of German engineering and was sucker punched by the ugliness of German profiteering.

I now see cars as a way to get from A to B, rather than a style point and will buy accordingly in the future.

yeah i'm italian, probably one of the reasons we even bought the car in the first place...we were actually looking for an older corvette and i saw this car and i fell in love with it, mostly cuz i wanted to own an italian car but most of them are really expensive. i have a feeling if i wasnt italian i wouldnt even know what an Alfa Romeo is...lol its like this time, i called a best buy to see what kinda car audio stuff they have and the guys like, what kinda car do you have? and i answered, an Alfa Romeo Milano, and the guy said, oh ok who makes that? lol i dont blame him, its too bad they dont sell them in north america anymore, this car is a beast :D...in a good way

To the guy wondering mini or jeep....if you just want a cool looking car, skip the jeep. They can be hell to live with on the road. If you want to get into offroading a little, put the top down, and experience freedom that you can't explain to someone else, get the jeep.

Anywho, here's my jeep.

Great way to put it Jeff. I have a 95 YJ with 4" BDS lift, 33 BFG A/T's and drivetrain mods. I can tell more and more each day that 1) Jeep's are NOT luxury vehicles 2) You can tell that a vehicle is 10 years old and 3) I really do love my Jeep. But even though I love my jeep, I really wouldn't mind a Grand Cherokee or a car as sacreligious as it sounds. But, it's good to see another Jeeper in the lounge.

On an iPod note, do you have your iPod mounted in your Jeep? I have been trying to find some pics of iPods in Wranglers but with not much luck.

I don't have a mount for my pod in my YJ as it's pretty much dirt only now. My ipod wouldn't last one trail ride. If I did want to mount it, I'd get some sheet metal and build a base for a mount that used a few of the dash screws. Have it come out the seam between the gauge cluster and the info pod right above the steeringwheel. Easy as pie.

How do you people afford BMW's and Lexus'? If you don't mind me asking, how much does your job pay, did you pay the car in rates or in a lump sum, and how much (if) does it cost you to live in your house or apartment? I'm really curious.
Easy. I'm a doctor (anesthesiologist).

Annual salary is a little under $400000, and the wife makes $100000/year. Currently leasing my car for 3 years (started leasing as a resident) with a year left to go. Nissan 350Zs are pretty cheap anyways.

As for the house, me and the wife just bought and moved into our first house just last week (before that we were living in condos). $1.1 million. Here in Southern California, that doesn't get you much, however. Heck, the condo we just moved out of sold for $465000.

As for my next car: see my above post. :)

You have to remember that the iPod is (was) a luxury item, and therefore the people that buy it have a pretty large expendable income.

Yup. In the future, 115 horses just isn't going to do it. I wanted the 1.8 turbo, but couldn't make the monthly payments.

Yay! Another E/Box owner!

Mine is called Monty. He's a Satin Silver '04.

Love the subwoofer. It sounds like a music hall in the back.

One of the things that influenced my purchase back in August was the line-in port. The other thing was the manual tranny.

An entry level BMW or Lexus isn't much more expensive than the average SUVs that are a dime a dozen. You can lease a Mercedes C-class for about $350 a month if you have qualifying credit.

I unfortunately do not have one. I was ready to buy a BMW Z4 when they first came out, but my wife got pregnant at the same time. All of the sudden a 2-seater became real impractical so I still have my 2000 Sebring convertible.

I had the same issue too. After the baby was born, we use the wife's car a lot more often to go out, since a 350Z obviously can't accomodate 3+ people.

Although it's a bit of an inconvenience to be able to only use one car to drive the family around, it's really not that bad. I'm planning to replace my wife's Camry with a Lexus 400h or Porsche Cayenne sometime soon.

My first car: Base model 1992 Ford Explorer 2-door. Brown.
Say what you will, it never looks like it's speeding. It's pretty much a stealth-car. Plus, I've got an awesome iPod setup going on: Dock in the ashtray, with a charger going to the cigarette lighter, and a cable going from the line out to the aux in on the back of my head unit. All I do is drop the iPod in, and I've got music :D

Ferraris are becoming too common. Any old chav can afford one of those nowadays. Why not get a Lamborghini? Gallardo's are pretty cheap as far as supercars go, and they're a lot more exotic...
