Hey guys, I know that this has probably been posted before, so I am sorry for that.

I am wondering, since I just a got a 4g 20 GB iPod, which case seems to be the best for use when working out? I know I could get a skin or something for scratch protection, but I need one with some kind of like belt clip that will stay sturdy if I am lifting weights, jogging, riding the bike or anything else.

Thanks a bunch.

No one? Come on I know someone uses theirs at the gym....

I prefer Lajo's exo2 case.

I use a mini because my 40gb 3g was too heavy. However, I have the mini clipped to a lanyard from the belt clip on the vaja. It's slight annoying right now because when i run on the treadmill it just bounces off my chest. However, I'm getting one of my engineers to rig up a "jig" on the belt clip piece and hopefully it will be better.

Before I got the vaja, I had the DLO Action Jacket, but I didn't like the way it made the mini look like just a regular old mp3 player.

well i know since the 4G just came out, that some manufactures haven't had a chance to fully develop anything, but I've always had luck with the Marware convertible. once they release the 4G one, you might check it out.

Yeah I looked around and that one looks best. Its not too expensive and it seems as if itll work well. It comes with an arm clip too.

if anybody has purchased xtrememac's armband i would be interested to know what you think of it, whether it stays on well while you workout and whatnot

I had the same questions before ordering a 3G 15gb two weeks ago. I decided on the Teski Roadie against the Marware and xtrememac options.

Just before placing my order for this case I got an email from Apple informing me that they had bumped me to a 4G 20gb model. Now waiting (and hoping not to scratch up my new baby) for the 4G cases to arrive.

The ipodlounge review of the otterbox o-pod intrigued me as well as I often run in the rain and the waterproof features of that case (albeit won't totally keep the 'pod dry at 20,000 leagues under the sea) would suit my pacific northwest uses. The o-pod was also a bit pricey particularly when paired with their armband.

Had heard some complaints about skipping/freezing issues with the pre-4G, non-mini iPods when attached to a belt for activity (versus being in a more stable/less jarring position attached to an arm). Since I've heard that the 'innards' of the 4G are more like the mini maybe this isn't quite the same issue.

I'm just as interested in other responses to this thread as you are.

I bought an oPod, but with my 15 gig, it wasn't very good, and leaked when i walked in the rain. I have since returned it for an ipod armor.
It's really good for active use because of it's well designed belt clip with a locking mechanism. Also, if you don't mind the 3G design on the front of it, it fits the 4G ipods. My 15 gig slid to the front when it got hit, but i just added some craft foam to either sides of the case, and it fits in there snugly.

I like the case, but the SWV clip is garbage. I've had my case for almost a month now. Thank god the silicone is quite protective, as the clip has failed me 2 or 3 times while I was doing cardio, and my ipod fell to the floor. The clip seems to have become even less capable of clipping onto my shorts securely as time has passed. Like most other people on this thread, I'm still searching for a good case to use while working out, 1 that will either attach to my clothing or myself.

i also have had this problem...i have just decided to go with the iskin evo2, and hopefully the clip is good enough. i mainly need it for lifting weights, which i figure is not too rough. when i run, i will just hold the unit. i am hoping the clip is not that bad...it should arrive today.

I just received my Conture Designs case for my 4g 20gig. Very sturdy and functional. Used it at the gym this morning and had no problems. Belt clip comes off and will easily still slide into your pocket as well. The lounge gave it an "A" under reviews as well. Only downsides would be that you have to work a little bit to slide it onto your belt (or shorts), but that also means it stays on securely and the itrip will not go on with it. But, I am not crazy about my itrip anyway.

You'll have to let me know how the evo 2 works for you. Supposedly the design on the *new* revoclip is supposed to be great. If this is true, I think I may contact Iskin to see if I can purchase just a clip from them. I'd defininately like to hear a review on iskin evo/clip's durability. I may just buy 1 of those, even though I like having the silicone covering all of the buttons.

I saw a guy wearing the new DLO Action Jacket at the gym the other day and think this is the way to go. Is anyone out there using this model, particulary in an "active" manner; e.g., running, lifting weights, biking, etc.? Also . . . what's the word on earphones for working out? Is Apple's in-ear headphones a good option, or should I look at Sony? I HATE the earphones that came with my 4G iPod, and need something better, especially for running.

I am not a big fan of my headphones that came with the 4g either, but from what I read I would stay away from the in-ear phones from Apple. I have read a lot that they tend to fall out-definitely not good for working out. I will probably purchase some E2's from Shure at some point, but I don't know if I will use those when I work out. They are about $100, and I would rather sweat into the cheap stuff

In keeping with the "thread" by the way, I am very happy with my Contour Designs case, it has worked out (pun intended) well.

I'm looking for a case that allows me to use it on my arm via na armband and then clipped to my belt via a blet clip... is the DLO Action Jacket any good?

Thanks in advane. :)

I've been looking for a 4G armband as well; so far my top 3 choices are:
1. Speck Products 4G Armband for $34.95
http://www.speckproducts.com/4g-armband.html
I don't fully understand how the Speck holds the iPod in place and if there is ANY possiblity of the iPod falling out of the holder then I will not buy it. (FYI: This armband looks similar to the mini armband that apple sells.)

2. Marware 4G SportSuit Convertible for $39.95
http://www.marware.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/Marware.woa/3/wa/selectedCategory?catalogCatID=164&wosid=tTUW4oeCmrpK4IX1RyzSWw
Looks pretty nice....option of belt clip and armband included in this price.

3. iPod Tunebelt
http://www.tunebelt.com/ab2
Had one of these for the MiniDisc player that my iPod is replacing and was completely satisfied with it. My minidisc player weighed more than and iPod and I never had any problem with the minidisc player feeling insecure our bouncing around on my arm.

The SportWrap iPod Armband for $29.95 looks like crap to me....

I'd love to hear more about the Speck Armband if anyone has actually used one. :)

my ipod gym set up
i-see 20 - yes despite its bad rap, I chose to go with this case because of the clip. It holds the ipod close to me so it doesn't swing around when I'm on the tread mill. The clip is jus so much sturdier than the swivel clips that come with the lajo's and iskins.
I haven't had any problems with it scratching my ipod/
Shure e2c - these stay in my ear and only come out when I take them out, unlike the sony fontopias

I run on the treadmill and then do weights, and this set up hasn't caused me trouble at all.

definitely look into the iSee by contour. GREAT belt clip and a really good all around design

I have the Marware sportsuit case for my Mini and it works great, the clip can rub if you put it on your belt, so I put a piece of fabric on it, but otherwise is a great case with solid construction and a study clip. I do wish the grommet on the bottom snapped better, but i'm going to buy another for my 4G as well. Hope this helps pal.
