Hmm, favorite artists, that's a tough one. My musical tastes change so often that I don't really have any that I would call "favorites". Instead I'll list some of the bands I am currently enjoying. (In no particular order)

Jurassic 5
The Roots
Sigur Ros
The Flaming Lips
Norah Jones
Beck
Jackpot
Allison Kraus
The Avalanches
Aaron Copeland

P.S. I also know of and enjoy Swollen Members. If you like them and Jurassic 5 you should also check out The Roots if you haven't already.

I have to agree with ipodtodd, my tastes are pretty fluid so it's hard to nail down "favorites". Lately these have been getting a lot of listening, in no particular order:

1. The Fixx
2. New Order (includes Electronic & other spinoffs)
3. William Orbit
4. The Cyrstal Method
5. Peter Gabriel
6. Garbage
7. Curve
8. Art of Noise
9. Tie between other ambient-ish stuff (Enigma, Underworld, Thievery Corporation)
10. I'd list Tool/A Perfect Circle except I really dislike Lateralus. Maybe AC/DC here.

(not in order)

The Beatles
Dylan
Joni Mitchell
Greg Brown
OysterBand
Richard Thompson (with and without Linda)
Peter, Paul and Mary
Jackson Browne

Wow, your list has proved that you are definitely cooler than me. I love the two Richard and Linda albums, by the way! Not to mention, Jackson Browne's "Late for the sky" is one of my favorite late night albums.

uofmtiger - I wasn't saying that I was cooler than you...but then it occurs to me that I was saying I'm cooler than your mother, and insulting people's mothers isn't a good idea. Oops.

Meanwhile, it's nice to know that some folks at the lounge also love some of the music I do.

Hadn't until recently and am hooked - he has such a good voice. Do you have the latest album - is it as good as the original album?

Of course it is... i just cant say enough good about him... he has just such a mellow voice that just makes you sink into the moment... He is one of the most brilliant artist's i know. I have his first sefl titled cd his third "Phanton Moon" and his Latest "Daylight" im just missing his second one "Humming" ... try and find a song called Wishful Thinking it was on the Great Expectations soundtrack... its such awesome talent...
