Buying new motherboard w. builtin firewire - will it charge?

Well, after 5 years of faithful service, i'm dumping my mother(board). Time to move on up from a pentium 3 600MHz to oh. something faster (and yes, i work in video and multimedia, i know EXACTLY how funny this is)...

I'm also gonna toss in a dvd burner and was thinking about a firewire card - you know, so i can join the new century.

I have a 3G 20GB Ipod...
if i get a motherboard with built in fire wire, will the ipod charge off it? is this never a problem? is it only the pci cards that you have to worry about?


any thoughts/advice/ words of encouragement/condolences?

As long as the firewire port has 6 pins, then yes.
