40 gig 4th Gen Protection Question!!

I have just purchased a 40gig 4th Gen iPod but I REALLY don't want to start using it consistantly until a decent case comes out for it. Here is my question: Is it safe to use one of lajo's MACLEAR zip cases in the meantime? I can't imagine getting any scratches from using what practically amounts to a ziplock bag, but if people HAVE had bad experiences with the zip case then i'd honestly PREFER to USE an actual ziplock bag until a case is released! I would really appreciate some advice! I just want to make sure the zip case is a scratch free alternative in the meantime... THANK YOU!

p.s. if it is safe to use, I'm assuming the zipcase will work with a 4th gen 40 gig??

I also had that problem, and i used an idea from a previous post and laminated mine.

Its cool, all you need is laminating sheets, and an exacto knife. The best part is you can still use your dock (unlike iSkin)

i used a ziplock bag for my 4G but then i found an old camera case that was a little big for the ipod so i just put some bubblewrap on the inside of the case and it fit in perfectly. so that could be another alternative to a zip lock back

I used the Maclear on the mini (briefly) and it was fine. The zipper part has a protector that goes in between the zipper and the iPod, so you don't have to worry about scratches.

I use a sunglasses bag. It doubles as a rag to clean the back of my iPod.

Me too! I use my Oakley Bag. Made with a Microfiber cloth.

Yeah, I'm carrying mine around wrapped in one of those lens-cleaning microfiber cloths -- just ordered a Maclear to tide me over until there are new cases, so will let you know how it works!

I keep my ipod in a Maclear. I came off my motorbike yesterday, and slide along the road on the pocket in which I had my ipod and mobile.

Amazingly my ipod hasn't a mark on it, while my mobile is in about 20 different pieces.

4gen 40gig fits. Little bit loose, but this is handy if you have to take your ipod out to place it in the dock.

Yup, 4g 40gb is fine in a Maclear. It's snug, but not as tight as a skin; there's a little bit of the stickiness/air bubbles problem, but I don't mind as long as it's safe from scratches! Controls work fine, and the lining will protect against zipper scratches (you do still have to be a little careful with it, especially if you leave the case on but unzipped when docking). One slight annoyance is that the earphone and hold switch holes aren't lined up quite right (probably they work better for the 3G?)... still functional though, and I probably won't bother with another case for a long while.
