Well, I was going to be getting a 3g ipod but now its a 4g. How long did it take for new cases (such as the iskin) to be released for the 3g? I'm going on a trip in about 2 weeks and would really like an iskin to protect it.

Well.. is the click wheel larger in the 4G? Perhaps one of the previous gen skins would fit..

There won't be any cases in 2 weeks, thats for sure. The iSkins took 3 or 4 months for the 3rd gens.

Well, that being answered, does anyone have any possible simple cases I could make or just might have. Just an FYI, I'd rather have something a little more attractive than a sock.

If you just want something to keep it from getting scratched in your bag, something like Timbukt2's iPod case (http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/catalog/categories.t2;jsessionid=78C37CCE685CAB1EBE979640E 32ACDDD?categoryId=13), a lined nylon case with Velcro enclosure, would do just fine (it fits the 3G very nicely and the 4G is just 1mm thinner, after all).

This is the case I'll be getting for my new 4G until something a bit nicer looking comes along. They're well made, have a soft inside lining and will offer protection and can be used while in the case, and aren't too expensive.

Plus, you might be able to get it retail, by just walking into an Eastern Mountain Sports, for instance--no shipping or waiting.
