View Full Version : Major install woes

Hi

I've just bought a 15Gb iPod for my wife's birthday, and luckily we weakened and opened it up early, thus giving me some time to sort out these problems...

Like another contributor, the iPod is recognised for often only a few seconds, sometimes a few minutes - once even long enough to get some songs onto the ####ed thing. Unlike that contributor, I haven't got iPod Manager running, so turning it off won't help.

Proceeding through the installation CD, there are no problems reported, but when I try to run MMJB, it dies immediately, every time. Never even seen what it looks like. I downloaded ephpod, which I did get to work on one magical occasion (which is when I managed to get some songs on the iPod). The firewire connection to the iPod seems to be the flaky thing; on several occasions, trying to bring up the 'undock' widget from the systray has caused the computer to reboot, no warning. Impressive - I haven't seen anything like that for a few years!

The firewire card came with Pinnacle Studio DV, and works flawlessly with my camera. PC's a pretty standard Dell GXA; two HDDs and two CDs (one a writer).

Any clues from anywhere?
