There is currently an iBook in the Special Deals section of the Apple store for $649. It's a 12" refurb 128Mb/30G HD if your interested.

The special deals is on the left hand side of the store page.

iBook G4 800MHz/128MB/30GB/CD-ROM/E/56K/12" TFT-Refurbished is US$749. Is it worth to pay extra 100 bucks for a G4? :)

I am currenlt typing on a G3 refurb just like the one on the Apple site. I wish I had gotten the G4 with the combo drive. Just a few hundred more.

The reason is that many software titles require a G4.

Will Dreamwaver and Fireworks run great on G4?
If I want to upgrade the RAM, where should I go? CompUSA?

Actually when you get the iBook there is a manual that will show you how to install memory and an Airport card. It's just under the keyboard. For memory you will need a small phillips screw driver. Simple process. My dad has a Linksys router at his house and my iBook works great there.

Good luck

Good luck. Even though I wish I had spent a few more dollars for the G4 combo drive version I really like my G3 iBook and will continue to use it for a long time to come. I'm just going to get an external combo drive and leave it at that. I find I like that Apples more than PC's now. No worries about viruses or other Windows problems.

There aren't too many viruses out there for Mac's, especially Mac OS X. But it's not a bad idea to consider getting an anti-virus application sometime in the future when you have more money available.

When I bought the iBook I went to an Apple store and talked with one of their Genius guys. He said the anti-virus software was not a big deal on Mac. He said that most people don't buy since the risks are so low. It's a personal preference I guess.
