I just got my new ipod today, and after installing the software sucessfully, when I connect the ipod to the computer, it goes to a screen that says "Do Not Disconnect", and freezes there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm pretty frustrated.

It is supposed to do that. It is telling you that removing it could possibly damage your files on the iPod. Especially if you are syncing. To get it to allow you to remove it look in your system tray and find the icon for the iPod or a removable disk, and click "safely remove hardware" or "stop IEE94 device" or somethign like that. Then after a few seconds the iPod should go back to the normal screen

Now, if you mean that you can't sync then that is a completely different thing, and we need a ton more info that just 'its not working.'

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help.
I think the ipod is working fine. It's just me wading in a deep and wide pool of ignorance. I can't get my songs from the computer to the ipod. It's that simple. I have both Musicmatch and Ephpod on my computer, and I guess I just don't know how they work. I thought when you attach the ipod, it opened the program and downloaded the songs automatically.
Any help gratefully accepted. I don't know exactly what questions to ask.

No prob. Just make sure you read all the manual and the forums. I read even messages that I don't think will pertain to me very well. I always learn something new though. Slowly I'm getting into the more advanced stuff, and I'm really happy with everything.

One suggestion though, DO NOT USE MMJB. I can't stand that program, it freezes up even the fastest computers and is really slow to sync. Completely uninstall it and download ephpod, it is much better. It is so simple to use also. You just need to tell the program what folder to sync to, then hit the sync button and your done!

Hope that helps. Also, there is a search on this site, and you can always look at old posts for help.

Hi,
I've learned real fast that MMJB pretty much sucks. Boy is it slow. I already have Ephpod loaded, but so far I haven't been able to figure out how to get it to sync. I'm going out of town for the weekend, and have enough to keep me happy, so I will fool around with Ephpod when I get back.
Thanks,
Have a great 4th.

If you do not get along with Ephpod - have a try of Media Center9 - I tried it and am just about to buy it!
So are a number of my friends - we love it!

MC9 is no good. It plays, rips, burns, blah blah. Interface is horrible. It does too much. Tagging songs on the iPOD feature SUCKS.

Do yourself a favour and get Ephpod. 6mb/s transfer rates, acceptable tagging, and very easy to use.
