Every time I dock the iPod, it automatically disconnects itself, even though it's still in the Dock.
My computer recognizes it for about 10 seconds, then it disconnects and the 'Do Not Disconnect' Screen goes away.
This started to happen after I loaded the 2.0.1 software.
I've tried restoring it to no avail.
Please help.
Thanks.
Also, after updating the software, I've noticed that my notes all show a '.txt' extension. How do I get it to not show the extension?

try disabling norton antivirus or any other anti virus you might have running .. if that doesnt work, then try changing your power settings for your hard drives from control panel -> power settings -> hard disks power or something along those lines ..

I don't have any antivirus programs.
I'm kind of hesitant about changing the power options...
When I dock the pod, it'll start charging, but the computer won't recognize it after the initial 10 seconds.
Are there any other options?
Thanks.

Note: it can take a few secs (read: upto 10 for the iPod to be recognised).
What exactly does windows say in "my Computer"?
And in the device manager, under Disks?

The computer recognizes the iPod for about 10 seconds, then it disconnects itself. After plugging in the pod, My Computer shows the iPod drive, but after 10 seconds it disappears again.

The apple ipod manager program can cause this to happen on some computers. Exit the ipod manager, and then try again.

hey, if you are using windows XP you have to turn the "disc" option off under the ipod manager in the system tray. I had this problem too so i know exactly what your talking about. It's not a 2.0.1 problem, check the manager. It says something like "ipod disc mode" or something to that effect.
