My ipod connection

I have a 2nd gen ipod, WINDOWS 20gb. I connect it via audigy 2 firewire. I want to try ephpod, (currently MMJB is installed along with all the other apple software crap). When I plug in my ipod i dont see anything in explorer after loads. It shows up then disappears. Is this because of the apple software? So far MMJB has worked ok...is it worth the trouble trying to figure whats happeneing and switching to ephpod? The reason i want to switch is so I can use winamp playlists...

It's due to the lame ol' MMJB actually. By default it turns off the drive that windows tries to map in My Computer.

Have you checked out this Sticky thread (http://ipodlounge.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=524) in the Ephpod section? It's has the steps to switch from MMJB to ephpod.

when it says it needs to build sub directories and stuff it cant it errors. Do I need to do this with a cleared IPOD? I had songs on it when I did all this.
