Hey all! I need some feedback in realation to hooking up my iPod to a stereo system for my room. I have been looking into the Altec Lansing inMotion Speakers, although am weary as I want perfect sound quality cause I listen to music a lot in my room. I don't care if it's portable or not, it'll just be sitting in my room. I hear that the JBL Creature 2.1 Speakers get excellent sound, although call me dumb but I'm confused on how I would hook up my iPod to those speakers. I really could use some help. Any feedback I would appreciate a lot. Thank you.

I think the Altec Lansing give decent sound as long as you don't crank the volume too much.
As far as the creature speakers, not 100% sure as I have seen them, but I think there is a stero cable and if you'd plug that into audio-out in the dock, bingo, you're set to go.

I wouldn't get the Altec Lansing inMotion speakers. I have purchased it and returned it the next day.
But I should mention that I am one of those people that can hear some distortion in lower quality equipment. I know that some people don't realize the sound quality and that is where "ignorance is bliss" fits perfectly. I have hard time listening to radio and eagerly wait for HD radio.
If you don't have a stereo equipment, you would be better off purchasing speakers $50-85. If you already own something, lineout/in would be your best bet.
Otherwise, you should think about upgrading your PC/Mac speakers. For the money, you should simply dedicate the fund to fit your ipod alone when you can benefit other items as well.
What I did personally was to purchase a home theater system. The price range increased significantly, but I got excellent system and all I have to do is set the ipod up for it whenever I want to use speakers.
If you didn't think the above opinion applied to your situation, and wanted an opinion on Altec Lansing inMotion or JBL Creature 2.1, I would urge you to go with the JBL creature. It looks really cool and according reviews, the sound quality is nice. And it costs as much as Altec Lansing inMotion (prices will of course differ depending on where you shop). With the speakers like that there will be less distortion at higher volumes than the inMotion. I don't know how large your room is, but if it is bigger than a box, you wouldn't want inMotion.
Hope it all works out.

THANK YOU very much for your response. I agree with you SolidGun I hear the slightest distortions in my music. I am a musician and a producer so my ears will hear every little annoyance. While I don't listen to music enough in my room to look into a theater system type product for my room I am in it enough to need great sound. I'm thinking of going with the JBL as I own some of their products already and I get very good sound out of them. All I need to find out I guess is how exactly too hook up my iPod to the JBL speakers. If anyone knows of any other products that may be better than thr JBL or at least worth looking into, please tell me. Once again feedback is much appreciated.

I just got my inMotion speakers today and they sound real nice. They don't sound quite as nice as if you had earbuds on, but they work for me. I haven't used they JBL speakers so I can't tell you anything about them.. but I will recommend the inMotion. Although, if you are really picky about sound quality you might try something else.
