I'm about to purchase a new headunit for my car that has auxInput access. I'm going to do the installation myself and I was wanting the opinion of people who have this type of setup. I want it to look clean and professional i.e. least possible wires showing... I'm going to get the monster i charger with true line out, and I was wondering would it look cleaner if I got a headunit with auxInput in the rear of the headunit? I would like to hear your feedback on this. Rear AuxInput or On the face of the Reciever?
Thanks
Chris

I have never seen one with front inputs, but if you can get one/want one, the nice thing about that would be you can fully disconnect all wires and remove.
Now if you want a clean hardwire install, nonremovable, people have been intigrating the iPod dock into console's, no wires showing what so ever, though the ipod has to be in the dock inorder to play. This is of coarse a extreme example of an install, carefull planning can result in a successfull install.
As far as what looks good, does it matter what I think, its your car, since I have never come across RCA jack on the front I cant really say if it looks alright, my guess is that it would be better to do an install behind the head unit, you can leave the RCA jacks in a accessable location so as to easily get to for connection -so they would be hidden.
Just think things through, think about what you want the end result to look like, think about it with each variation.
I reviewed serveral install options, each have their pros/cons, in the end I picked the one which benefited me the most in my particular situation. See what works for you.

if you want a clean install, i would reccommend going for back RCA ports, and running the wire up through a hole [you will most likely have to drill] and have it come out where you want the iPod to sit.
Front RCAs probably won't look as clean.
Totally agree with Andrew. Clean look means no wires. No wires means rear ports.
Also consider that all the head units I've seen with front AUX input have had the jack on the detachable faceplate. So every time you're detaching the faceplate you're also unplugging the aux input cable to the iPod. (To be honest though I haven't seen many front aux input head units except the AIWA models)
Seems like that would get really old really quickly.
Go for rear AUX inputs. In the worst case, if you want to you can easily extend them to a jack you install on the dash or console somewhere.
You answered your own question. If you don't want wires showing, that leaves you with only one option. And in my opinion, wires = sloppy. Rear input is the way to go for sure. I would recommend using the dock in one way or another. Good luck.
