iPod not working after Firmware update!

Hello,

I have a REALLY frustrating problem here. I finally got my iPod to work on my computer by buying an USB cable (FireWire didn't work) and now I updated to the new firmware from 2004-04-28, and since then my iPod doesn't work anymore. It just shows the Apple logo. Resetting still gives the same problem. I can't even turn my iPod off anymore!!

Please help me :(

If you do an update, you will see what you are seeing now. For some reason you must do a restore, or the new firmware will not work. I had the same problem as you and it was fixed with a restore.

Yes but a restore didn't work because the restore application wouldn't connect to the iPod. However I found out I needed to go into DISK MODE and then try it, which worked.

Really strange that I can't find anything regarding Disk Mode in the user manual. iPod is a nice thing, but the user manual could be more complete.

Ah, iTunes. I don't use iTunes, and never have, so I don't have to use disk mode, or even have disk mode
