Hi there,
Ive experienced some really bad stuff when upgrading to the 2.2 firmware, causing the ipod to work as a disk, but when i eject it it says "OK TO DISCONNECT" - "DISC MODE" and nothing works.
A hard reset wont work either, reflashing firmware fails.
When I turned it on I got a folder with explination mark behind it.
Anyways, I did a search on the forums trying to find a solution, and found some ppl with same problem, and that the only solution was to send it to apple.
Anyways, so I did.. I got my new ipod. All working, stupid me, tried to flash the firmware again, and same all over again.
Ok, I think I found a solution for this, this worked for me.
1) Dock yar ipod, wait for DO NOT DISCONNECT
2) Open the apple updater (the 2.2 firmware) if you have previously tried to flash it and it fails, it wont display any firmware or other info like its no firmware on yar ipod
3) press restore.. It will do something on yar ipod, and then it will just hang there and the updater will never finish, take a look at yar display, be sure it says DISK MODE, YOU CAN NOW DISCONNECT.
4) Dont close the update firmware program, just undock yar ipod, do a HARD RESET (holding those to buttons), you will now get a cable symbol on yar ipod
5) Attach it again (firmware program still running). voila, now it
update the rest of the ipod that it failed to do previously.
Hope this helps for other ppl having same problems as me
