Hi,
After getting a bad virus on my computer, I had to install a brand new copy of windows. Therfore, even though all my data is still there, none of it shows up. So I have to reinstall all my programs. I reinstalled iTunes, and downloaded the latest ipod firmware( 4-28-04) when i try to open the firmware (the one that gives thge option to update or restore), not even plugging in my ipod, it gives me a message that says ipod service error and when i hit ok, it automatically shuts down. When I try to plug in the ipod, the same thing happens with the firmware and when i try to open itunes it gives me a message that there is an with the installation of itunes for the ipod and I shoould reinstall. I did that but it still gave me the same message.
