I'm off to college next year, so I'm in the process of buying a new laptop. I have in mind what I want for the most part, but I'm wondering what specs would make a PC laptop ideal for heavy ipod use?

Right now, my ipod is 3rd gen, 10 gb, and there's about 14 GB of music being stored on my home computer.

As far as storage goes, I'd like to be able to back up as much as possible on the new computer. What kind of firewire port is the best? Is there anything else that I should keep in mind when buying a computer that's going to be used with my ipod?

nope nothing to keep in mind. Firewire 400 is all you really need. I believe its better than USB 2.0 but thats just my opinion. I bought a Powerbook 12 for meself for college use and of course heavy iPod use. Works perfect.

Hmm...a powerbook, huh? I'd get one, too, but the price tag's just too high.

Right now I'm looking at a Compaq Presario:
