Ipod Wont Transfer Data

My 2nd gen 20gb ipod for windows recently fell and hard drive was frozen for a while--then I restored it to factory settings in an effort to reboot the hard drive. Now whenever I connect it to PC it tries to load songs but nothin ever gets onto ipod. Any ideas? Is the hard drive cooked or is there potentially a software issue that I can fix?

Dropping the iPod is not a good thing. I hope you are still under warranty because you will probably need to have it repaired. The HD might have been damaged in the fall. I suggest you contact Apple repair service via there website here: http://www.apple.com/support.
