Hey, I hope someone can help me. My Dell Inspiron died on me tonight, and I am going to have to reformat my computer (after hours on the phone with Dell's Tech Support...ugh). I am very worried about what will happen to my iPod when I reconnect it after the reformat.

I have read a lot about the HD getting wiped when you plug it into a new computer, what will happen when I have to completely reinstall iTunes and basically reconnect my iPod to it which will essentially be the first time? I do not sync...my CPU HD is 30 gigs and my 3G 30GB iPod is almost full. I have almost no music on it, it's all on my iPod and on a portable hard drive. I was going to connect it to a new computer and try to connect it to iTunes there, but the HD wiping has scared the crap out of me. There's 2,000 songs missing on my portable HD, and if it gets wiped I'll lose them forever.

Sorry this is wordy and convoluted...it's 5:17am and I've been up with the Dell idiots trying to repair my laptop. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance, and have a good weekend!

there are three apps you can look at to copy from the iPod to your pc, all of which can be found in the downloads for windows tab (http://www.ipodlounge.com/downloads_windows.php)

however the important thing to remember is that when you connect your iPod that the auto sync is off...

make sure you check out the apps properly though - i myself have not used any of them!

good luck
