iPod occasionally loses bookmark

Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. I have a 3G 15GB iPod. Version 2.1. I have an intermittent problem where the iPod will lose its bookmark from where I stopped listening the previous time. When this happens, it starts from a previous bookmark - not the current one. This happens with audiobooks I bought from both iTunes and Audible. It seems to happen more when I haven't used the iPod for several days and sometimes when I recharge the iPod.
Has anyone else had this happen?

When you're not using your ipod for 48 hrs (think it's the time period), it automatically blanks its memore. Thus the bookmark.

Normally, when it does so, you should see the apple, i mean the Apple logo, when you start your ipod.
